While one can become the other, femboys and trans people are not the same thing. Trans people are individuals whose gender assigned at birth does not match their actual gender.
On the other hand, femboys are guys who exhibit feminine traits or embrace a feminine style, often through clothing or mannerisms. This is a form of gender expression, not identity.
It's possible for someone to identify as both—for example, some individuals online describe themselves as trans and femboys—but this is not the case for all trans people or all femboys.
I go by the online name "Nima". I crossdress and enjoy wearing feminine clothing, but I feel comfortable as the gender I was assigned at birth. While it’s fine to portray the character of "Nima" as a different gender, please don’t portray the real me as something I’m not.
Another example is my friend Lilith, who is trans. She identifies as a woman, and calling her a femboy would invalidate her womanhood and dismiss her gender identity.
I understand that the difference may not always be obvious. But it’s okay to ask: “Do you identify as this or that?” Asking this question would show a genuine effort to understand and validate someone’s identity, which can make all the difference.
