Initially, my idea for this game was to use a top-down perspective, with isometric 8 angles car and other sprites. However, after experimenting a bit, it seems that going full bird's eye view is the way. All movement is going to look a lot smoother (I can rotate all sprites in all 360 degrees) AND I get to use Construct's Z Elevation parameter for objects, which will produce a nice "fake 3d" effect.
In the first image I'm showing how I'm slicing the objects. There are two layers, the top and the bottom one. The former is configured with a larger Z Elevation parameter than the latter.
This produces the "faux 3d" effect that appears in the second image. Pay attention to the car's top, and how it seems "higher" than its bottom.
I'm going to change the game's headquarters (which the player needs to defend) and also the enemy sprites, and hopefully I'll have something for you folks to see soon!
See ya
