illagus 2.3 update
Welcome to the 2.3 update to illagus called Beneath. With this update a lot of optional side content has been added to the game. Alongside this a number of rooms have been overhauled, combat has been improved and further new content has been added.
Your previous save file for the main game should still be functional and you can continue where you left off. The save files for the demo version have unfortunately been reset so you'll have to start over from the beginning.
Let's get right to all the changes that have been made
NEW: Cave update. Caves are now optional content that can be explored. Discover a new set of enemies and bosses and see if you can brave the dark caverns.
NEW: Large rooms. Several larger sized rooms have been added. They can mostly be found among the caves. These rooms are a lot bigger than the regular rooms and don't require you to kill every enemy to proceed.
NEW: Islands update. Islands have also had a small update. Like the caves they are now optional and a small number of new islands have been added.
NEW: Traps. A number of new traps have been added to the game and the trap rooms have been overhauled. Different types of spike traps, beartraps and buzz saw traps are new dangers for you to overcome. Trap rooms will now provide a more varied challenge run to run.
NEW: Critical Strikes. Critical strikes have been added to the game. The base critical strike chance is 5%. Critical strikes can be further enhanced with new artifacts and their subsequent upgrades.
NEW: Charge Attacks. Hold down either of the attack buttons to charge up your attack. Charge your attack up long enough to unleash a stronger attack in a larger area. Charge attacks can also be improved via new artifacts.
IMPROVED: Reactive enemies. A number of enemies have had their behavior improved to be more reactive to the player and what they are doing.
NEW: Timed chests challenges. These challenges can be found all over the land but are most common in the caves. Interact with the chest to start the challenge. Defeat the enemies quickly and claim what is left of your reward.
NEW: Enemies and bosses. These creatures have new mechanics from trying to blow themselves up near you to teleporting around you, sneaking up on you and trying to run you over.
IMPROVED: Access to different content. Some of the older content was a bit hard to find so a lot of it can now also be accessed via the new content added in this update.
Miscellaneous changes:
Added minor particle effects to a lot of the main rooms
Fire spells and enemies are now visible in the dark
Increased attack speed for all characters
Crystalmancer major bugfixes
Crystalmancer crystal explosion and radius slightly changed
Slightly lowered the overall music volume
Made improvements to the way damage numbers are shown and improved their accuracy
Bugfixes to fighting bosses in the Ashlands
I hope everyone is excited to play the new update. These changes are of course also available in the demo version so if you aren't sure if this game is for you, feel free to try the demo and see for yourself. The next update will be a smaller one consisting mostly of adding further content to the new mechanics added in the last few updates. Expect this update some time in April
