Five Nights at Freddy's 4: Ultra Custom Night

Important update and major overhaul.

(read article)

Randomly on Monday I thought of some new features to add for 2.0 and these are cool, yes. However, the current MFA is in such a bad state and its basically impossible to add anything without the entire game crashing and falling apart.

There's also a bunch of other flaws that really can't be fixed in the current state and it's suffered the same fate 1.0 ended up suffering due to its bad code.

Due to this, 2.0 is getting recoded in another brand new MFA. The older 2.0 already was recoded from a brand-new MFA, but it had major flaws that can't be fixed now.

Right off the bat, this menu is already looking quite different. First off, the title no longer abbreviates "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" and instead shows the full name, "Five Nights at Freddy's 4: Ultra Custom Night". You'll also notice all the character icons are moved to the left and are smaller. There are also 7 characters locked. Who are these, you may ask? You'll find out for yourself. There's also a score system, which goes in increments of 40 for each AI point. This score can be increased with the challenges, but more on that later.

You'll also notice the menu looks way cleaner now and the author of the game is now mentioned at the bottom left, and the version text is at the bottom right.

There's also brand new presets, and for that reason the old Game Jolt trophies were removed (they'll come back whenever this update has good progress dw). You'll also notice there's 3 menu tabs above the start button. I won't go too in-depth about that, but I'm going to explain the key parts about this overhaul.

Challenges

Yup, you heard that right. The challenges are receiving major reworks. Two new challenges have come to take the flame, and there's much more revolving the challenges. Welcome in...

Bloodbound Mode.

Bloodbound Mode is basically the Aggressive of FNaF 4 UCN v1.0 and the Hyper Mode of SL SCN/FNaF 1 SCN. Characters are now faster and also have buffs to their mechanics. This challenge adds a score multiplier of x2.0. There's also...

Long Nights.

Long Nights makes the night 9 minutes instead of 6 minutes. This challenge adds a score multiplier of x1.5. You also have...

Darkest Night.

Darkest Night now reduces your vision to a general flashlight (not the one for flashing the doors). This can be freely moved with your cursor anywhere around the screen. This challenge adds a score multiplier of x1.25. And finally, to conclude the challenges, welcome in...

The Sleepy Effect.

This challenge will add an invisible sleepiness meter. For the entire night, you will slowly fall asleep. Moving around the bedroom will reset this sleepiness effect. However, that isn't all. As the night goes on, forced sleepiness will be added that'll make staying awake even harder as the night goes on, meaning at 5 AM you'll really need to know what you're doing to survive that final hour. This challenge adds a score multiplier of x1.5.

That's the end of the challenges. But that isn't all either.

Cheats

Yup, you heard that right. FNaF 4 UCN is receiving cheats. However, these come with a cost of keeping your score at a flat 0 and stars cannot be obtained for presets. What are these cheats, you may ask? Well, I shall present the following cheats...

Fast Nights.

This cheat cuts the night length by half, meaning the night is now 3 minutes. Yeah, I know it's not all that interesting, but whatever. WARNING: Cannot be enabled with Long Nights.

House Map.

This cheat provides a map of the house (including the Plush Hall) and provides a radar of where certain animatronics are (ex. Nightmare Bonnie, Nightmare Chica, Nightmare Fredbear, etc.)

Warning Indicators.

This cheat gives you warning indicators for when a character is in their attack phase and has multiple stages of progression. For example, if Nightmare Bonnie is at his last stage before killing, a blue warning triangle with Bonnie's head will appear at the left door.

Uncapped AIs.

This challenge sets the AI cap from 20 to 99. While it's technically not uncapped, it's the furthest that I want to go with this. WARNING: Some stuff may break really badly if you go to really high AIs, if that's the case don't report that to me because I will not fix it

Anyway, that's it for the cheats. However, 7 characters are locked. You may be wondering, how do you unlock them? Well, for the first 6, I have an answer for you. I also have an answer for the 7th one, but that'll come later. Welcome in...

Reborn Mode.

You know Ultra Mode from FNaF 1 Ultra Custom Night & Classic Mode from FNaF 1 Super Custom Night? Reborn Mode is just like that. In Reborn Mode, you can experience the original campaign of Five Nights at Freddy's 4, with one new character that was locked being added on Night 2 and onward. Completing their night will unlock them in Custom Night. This is basically how you unlock the first six characters in this game, there is no shop system like SL SCN or character challenge like FNaF 1 SCN.

Completing Nights 1-7 of Reborn Mode will unlock the first 6 locked characters, but how do you unlock the 7th one? I have the answer right here.

Welcome to Dee Dee's Delight.

Dee Dee's Delight is a bonus game mode unlocked after completing Reborn Mode and is how you access the max modes for this game. There is no more unlocking Dee Dee via completing the base max mode. Instead, you unlock her via Dee Dee's Delight. In Dee Dee's Delight, the main cast starts off at 0 AI, but at the start of the night Dee Dee will spawn in and bring in a character from the main cast roster. However, after 3 minutes have passed, she will start adding characters from her own roster, which even that has changed! To unlock Dee Dee, you must last 10 or more minutes on Dee Dee's Delight, which automatically unlocks the descriptions for her roster.

Now, the cheats and challenges also start out locked. How do you obtain them? The answer is easy to say, yet hard to actually do. To unlock cheats and challenges, you need to unlock every character that is locked. Yes, this includes lasting 10 or more minutes on Dee Dee's Delight.

After you unlock the cheats and challenges along with every character, you'll be able to play all 3 of the max modes from the start.

Goodbye Yellow Bear & True Max Mode. Welcome Golden Wrath.

Golden Wrath is effectively the base max mode for 2.0's overhaul, aka 17/20 Mode with no challenges. However, there are 2 more variations of Golden Wrath. With Bloodbound Mode enabled and all cheats disabled, you'll be playing Bloodbound Wrath, aka 17/20 with Bloodbound Mode. With all 4 challenges enabled, you'll be playing Bloodbound Wrath All Challenges, aka 17/20 AC. I will admit this is a little overkill but it's better than the amount of BS FNaF 4 UCN 1.0 had when Nightmare Fredbear & Nightmarionne had their own segments of the night (those who remember 12-2 AM All Night).

With all that said, this wraps up everything revolving the overhaul for 2.0. I apologize if this felt kind of out of nowhere, but truthfully this overhaul will do way more good than negative, despite how long it'll take to come out. I do not want y'all to experience the old 2.0 as it's honestly not very great in my eyes and I can definitely do better.

Goodbye, and see you again at the end of April.
