I am planning a story mode for this game. I just came up with the idea a couple days ago, and it seems I have something to work with. Here’re the details:
You Won’t Need To Beat Story Mode To Unlock All the Characters
The main idea of this game from the very beginning was to have the player be able to play from a large selection of characters instantly without hassle. To abandon this main focal point would be foolish. Even though a story mode will be in the game, it will not affect character unlocking for normal battle mode. However, completing certain story missions will unlock more story missions for other characters. See below for the big picture of that.
The Story Will Weave Together As One Full Universe
Each character in the game will come to a point where they cannot continue on because another character has not yet gotten to that point. This is because both (or all 3, or all 4) characters will need to be on one team in order to pass that specific battle and push both their stories forward. At the very end of the game, there will be a final battle where you will be able to choose from a plethora of all the characters you’ve gotten to the end of story mode and fight the last boss, creating one epic, universal ending.
No Voice Actors
Too many characters. ‘Nuff said.
Story Mode Is Low In Priority
As far as development of the full game goes, story mode will not be a focus of mine right now. There’s just too much else that needs to get done first, like, say, the full on engine and the 100 characters that must be planted into the game. So far, the engine itself is almost complete, and we’re ready to move on when it’s done.
Get ready, world.
