here is the promised core gameplay feature i teased in my last post - mementos!
but before i explain what they actually do, i should probably tell you that a lives system will exist in iudicium. however, i felt that adding a lives system into a game like this would just feel frustrating to play with - theres a reason it was never implemented in the original fnaf.
so, i came up with a solution to that issue, and that solution was to make death fun through mementos.
mementos are items that you receive in a post-death cutscene that permanently change an aspect of your next run. for example, the memento showcased in the video, the hourglass, changes the gameplay from task-based to time-based. the quality and gameplay impact of the mementos you receive changes depending on how well you performed during your last run.
my next post will be a more detailed look at the "monster" showcased in the video.
