Game
The Never Ending Flower Shop

It's my birthday!

To celebrate, i've released a devlog-only page for the game i've been secretly working on all year:

The Never Ending Flower Shop

so as an introduction, here's everything i can share about it

You will explore the mysterious Floricultura Consuelo, a place lost in stagnation and full of unresolved customers.

Playing as Rita Consuelo, you return to your mother's ruined dream to fulfill her last wishes. However, as secrets thrive in forgotten places, it will be up to you to find out what's caused this flower shop to be in the state you found it before you can finish your task.

As you explore, you will meet people stagnant within their own struggles, such as The Man With His Head Down, These customers are stuck in the flower shop, and their issues shape the area they're in, result of your mother's past mistakes that now become your responsibility to fix.

Helping these stagnant customers will be essential to gather information and reach the root of this never ending problem that surrounds the shop.

GAMEPLAY

one of the core gameplay features that will be introduced in the Tutorial Act is the Daisy Decoy

when Rita concentrates in a *Specific Area*, she will be able to create a daisy from nothing. These daisies can be used as platforms to jump on, will be essential in puzzle solving and enemies will also be attracted to them, allowing Rita to leave a dangerous area without having to fight.

The Decoy Daisy mechanic will also have a skill tree, where you can upgrade it and unlock new abilities.

This ability WILL BE available in the eventual demo of the game.

THE SWORD

This game was initially not meant to have a combat system, you'd use the Daisy Decoy against enemies and the gameplay would focus on exploring the location, solving puzzles and helping the stagnant customers.

At some point throughout development, i was listening to this while working on the project, when suddenly the idea of giving Rita a sword appeared in my head.

Then i gave Rita a sword.

After finishing the Tutorial act, you will receive The Scissor, a sword that will help Rita cut through the mysterious Queen of The Night leaves that spread across the entire flower shop.

With this sword, you will also be able to fight enemies that you previously learned to avoid with the Daisy Decoy, creating gameplay options and strategies for you to explore.

Both Daisy Decoy and The Scissor can be used together to help you in tough situations

The sword and combat system will NOT be available in the eventual demo of the game; the demo ends when you acquire it, but i'm planning on still allowing you to test it out somehow.

And with the Scissor, you make the BOUQUET

To aid you in battle and exploration, you will be able to collect special Perk Flowers that can give you a bunch of different abilities when equipped. This has been my favorite part of developing this game!

You will be able to equip different ability flowers in your Bouquet (5 slots) and receive perks that will help you in many ways, there will be 12 flowers to collect and many combinations you can try out to make your gameplay unique as you explore.

Here's an example of a perk you can receive:

" Amaranth - Rebirth:
Upon death, you immediately return with (1) extra heart.
(Stacks up to 3)
(Withers after use)"

If you have 3 of these equiped in your Bouquet, you will return with 3 hearts.

The Bouquet and Perks will not be available in the eventual Demo

This is all i can share with you for now, there's some screenshots and also a little glimpse into the soundtrack in the game page, and i'll share a few drafts from my progress over these past few months in a different post, since this one is getting way too big.

I hope you're interested in what i have to offer with the Consuelo Flower Shop, i'm working on all of this by myself so it might take a while, but i'll make sure to keep you updated on any relevant progress made.

The Demo will not have certain gameplay features, so i think focusing on finishing the tutorial area, story and mechanics will be my focus, that way you can have the demo sooner to play.
I'll also work on a little training mode you unlock after finishing the demo, where you can try out the combat system a bit.

using a Decoy Daisy to jump across 'blank spaces' will be a huge part of your flower shop exploration.

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.

To aid in exploration, important and notable interactables will be highlighted when approached to help you distinguish them from both the scenery and flavor text interactables.

i assume this is better than a neon yellow painted arrow...
