The Epic Game Jam #4 was a game jam that ran a little differently from most jams. There were two teams, each fighting for subthemes that would need to be included into the games made for that team. The team with the best games in the end would become the ultimate winner! I was able to play and record all of the games entered into this jam in my video compilation series. Below are a few of my favorites, in no particular order.

лабиринт is a two player game where one player is a character inside a building, while the other is controlling a Tetris-esque screen, creating the build for the other player through the blocks that are dropping off the screen. These Tetris blocks have different walls on them, showing the second player where there are openings (missing walls so they player can get around) and where there are monsters.

They will need to skillfully attach the pieces in a way that allows the first player to escape from the area they are now in. Water is rising up the screen, so after a while, the player in the building will be forced to move upwards. Hopefully there is some room for them to go that way! Лабиринт is a challenging game that takes a bit of thought and communication between both players, but is very fun to check out!

Sandro’s Super Sprint is also a two player game, where both players take turns controling a car racing around a track. First, player one will be able to race the car around, avoiding obstacles and gaining distance as they go through a normal looking track.

Once that player crashes, the second player will take over, racing a ship through the same track (picking up where the first player left off) in an attempt to drive for as long as possible. The distance each player drives will go onto a bar on their respective side and the first player to fill that bar wins! Sandro’s Super Sprint is a polished, well crafted game that keeps you on your toes!

Priorities is a multitasking game that has you attempting to earn money through various jobs! You have one job to do at first, which requires clicking. This job is random at the start, so it’s different each time you play. It could be mixing paint to the correct color, knocking down a castle door, or maybe picking lavender. Whatever it is, you must complete the task before the red background fills up.

Once it is completed, you will earn money, and the background will slowly fill up with purple. This purple colour represents the reset percentage of the mini-game. Once it is done, you can perform the task again before it becomes red again. At first, this is very easy, but as you earn money you can use the gumball machine to get more jobs. Once you have a few jobs, all with different timers on how long you have to complete them, you will start to see how hard it is to juggle them. Priorities is a hectic game with a small amount of mini-games that get rather interesting when you have to do them all at once.
