Megalia — Devlog #4 v0.04a Pre-Alpha Update

v0.04a expands Megalia’s building system with new environmental tiles, introducing different movement behaviors and stronger visual identity for levels.

New Tiles

  • Water
Water can be entered and moved through. Movement is slower, jumps are reduced, and falling is softened.
This creates new traversal options, including safer landings, vertical sections, and alternate paths.

  • Lava
Lava is a lethal hazard. Contact will instantly eliminate the player.
It serves as a high-risk environmental danger, useful for creating pressure and restricting movement.

  • Tree (Decor)
A new decorative tile used to enhance outdoor environments. Trees allow for more natural-looking levels and help break up repetitive terrain.

Gameplay Impact

With the addition of Water and Lava, levels can now include:

  • Movement-altering zones

  • Safer fall areas vs. dangerous traps

  • Layered hazards when combined with Sand and Spikes

These additions expand how players approach both platforming and level design, adding more variety without increasing complexity.

Editor Expansion

The new tiles provide more flexibility in both gameplay and visual design. Levels can now feel more distinct, with clearer themes such as natural environments or high-risk areas.

Ongoing Development

Work continues on improving overall stability and expanding Megalia’s systems. Server-related issues from previous updates are still being monitored, and further improvements are planned.

Current State

Megalia remains in Open Pre-Alpha. Expect:

  • Bugs and unfinished features

  • Continued system changes

  • Gradual content expansion

More updates coming soon.

Updated the chest in the maze, adding sound, particles and better animation. But what's in the chest?

A house I've built a while ago. :)

It nicely separates the snowy biome from the grassy one.

It's built with painted Ebonstone.

Regular exercise is key for healthy wings.

Try it out!
