Ladies and gentlemen I now present to you JBS v1.3 BETA, it has been 3 months since I released the last demo and let’s face it the last demo wasn’t without a lot of bugs here and there. Not only that but a lot of the schematics still needed perfecting, as much that I accomplished in v1.2 I actually still feel it was a pretty ok BETA considering there have been far worse but now that v1.3 is out I feel like God.
Laughing at that over here as I type because of how much I have finally shaped everything to what I really want it be over the past 2-3 months since the last BETA release. I asked a few people to do LP (Let’s Play) videos for to get an insight into the players mind while playing my game, it made a big difference in how I went about game dev. after seeing a few people go through the game. Not only that but I saw a lot of stuff I had missed or looked over, maybe even forgot to go back and fix due to a large list of other things needing attention. All in all they were very helpful and I appreciated all of you LP’ers out there who helped out, Thank you! Keep up the good work!
So what’s new in version 1.3? Is there a major difference? Well considerably YES, there is a large difference in mostly everything. A few months ago I looked at my game from a broader perspective and started to consider more possibilities for the game and also entertaining players, with that I began to sketch up new plans for implementing new features and providing better gameplay/performance for the player. If you have read some of my recent blogs I have been talking about that and if you haven’t well I will leave it up to you to go back and read those or not, I won’t be repeating much of what I said there, here.
Well you want a direct list of what exactly changed? This may not be a complete list but here’s something for you to chew on:
Title Graphics Changed
Game resolution now always returns to whatever you chose at beginning of game
Intro of game revamped and extended
Bugs in Shyla’s dream area fully fixed
Shyla’s dream area now contains a few new characters who help you find your way
In-game menu graphics updated (icons, etc.)
Alignment system added
Journal system added
Cheat system added
SBS + ATB modified and working fully
Shylas evil twin now has a new attack animatino
Sound effects for mostly everything completely changed to custom sounds
New face graphics for Shyla
New loading screen customization
Able to fight monsters in the forest now, you receive wooden sword from father
3 new maps added to the woods area outside of Shylas house
Making lunch scene modified (now must find greens in the forest)
live sunshine rays added to forest areas
Some cut scenes now have a dreamy haze for borders instead of boxed screen like before
Removed utility menu (A) (no longer needed)
Removed cursor bar during character select in battle (thanks to ???Nobody???)
If you get poisened in Shyla’s dream area, now you will die if your health drops to zero (so be careful with those green glowing blobs!)
Fully customized numbers during battle
added in priority high script
You now only have to collect water container once
Boosters now available to gather from monsters in the woods
Stage Select bug fixed (cancel button no longer crashes game)
If you ever played v1.2 you will know the differences from playing the game, if not the list above can give you some kind of idea.You can always go download v1.2 and compare it to v1.3 but I wouldn’t bother.
After the past week of working night and day on the updates for the game, working on making my kickstarter presentation diamond studded, I can finally sit back and hand you guys the latest version of the game
