No Place Like Home? Frightmare Studios? Remember that? This is us now. Reintroducing COMING HOME, developed by QUDICAL. An ex-FNAF fangame coming to Steam & GJ. Announcement trailer & Steam page drop June 6th.

Check out our game page here.

Back in 2021, we announced 'No Place Like Home' here on GameJolt as a FNAF fangame. Things have changed since then. We felt that we could go much further than a simple fangame. We decided to work in silence as we revisited the concept and expanded the scope of the game dramatically. We're now finally ready to talk about the game in public again.

COMING HOME is a retro slasher horror game, with a focus on home defense. In the dead of night, you hear someone lurking outside - but you are not defenseless. Watch the cameras, barricade your doors, and have your gun at the ready - anything to keep the Sundown Rippers from claiming their next victim.

The game has really changed a lot since we last showed it to you. It's no longer a purely point-and-click game; COMING HOME is a free-roam title with emphasis on combining FNAF-style resource/camera management with survival horror mechanics. There are three areas of your house to explore and defend. You're armed with a revolver, but your shaky aim and limited ammo will make it difficult to use.

Using your home defense system, you must booby trap windows and scan for movement inside the house - but be wary of the power draining from your backup generator.

We've been doing extensive playtesting and iteration to make COMING HOME something more than your average FNAF-like. We intend for this game to be an evolution of the sit-and-survive horror subgenre, instead of just playing patsy to another game entirely.

This game started off as a fun fangame project with a couple of friends. But with how much time, effort, and money has gone into this game, we've decided to turn it into a commercial project. Part of this transition is a move towards Steam. On June 6th, we will publish our Steam page together with an announcement trailer showing you some of what we've been cooking.

Also! We will be participating in the Access-Ability Summer Showcase, also on June 6th, where we will be showing off a different, special trailer showcasing our accessibility features. One thing that hasn't changed since we first announced this game is our major focus on accessibility. Accessibility is something that is typically massively overlooked in some horror games, especially FNAF-likes. We're proud of the work we've put into making this game playable for as many people as possible. The Access-Ability showcase will be live-streamed to YouTube here.

That's all from us, for now. We'll see you again soon.
