Alrighty then, while I was finishing up Aftermath, I came up with quite a lot of ideas for this game. And now that it's done, I can finally work on this again. Here's the important updates:
I'm rewriting the Act 4 cutscene. This is like the 4th time lmao. I hope that this will be the final version of the cutscene, so that I can finally draw all the assets I need and move onto the rest of the game.
I've added a new enemy to Act 2. I felt like just 2 enemies in Act 2 weren't enough, so I decided to add another one to spice things up. I also made actual sprites for the laser things that Null shoots in the boss.
I decided to merge Acts 5 and 6. I had an idea that to move from one section to another in Act 5, you would have to solve a Portal-styled puzzle thingy. That did not go well though, so I decided to replace it with Act 6's gameplay. This is also good story-wise, because I cut 2 characters from the lore. I just want to keep things simple.
I'm adding a hard mode to the game. I've made a few small adjustments to the first 3 Acts just because of this. Right now the only hard mode level that is done is Act 1.
And finally, I have decided that demo 2 won't include Act 5. Since the number of Acts was reduced from 8 to 7, I don't think including Act 5 is a good idea. But on the bright side, you'll get the new demo sooner.
As for the release date for Demo 2 or for the full game: I have no idea. So don't bother asking.
Also, I was thinking of remaking the jumpscares and rare screens. I want to make the jumpscares actually animated and make the rare screens more interesting.
