Hey whoever’s reading this. This is my first devlog post so I guess I’ll introduce myself and go over what I do. They call me Particle Man. I got the name for two reasons, the first because I work on the particles for the game and the second being I have the same name as Jackripperz (I don’t think the rest of the team remembers my real name). I’m a programmer and though I am responsible for all the particles in the game, I work on whatever task Jackripperz sends my way. I’m a university student going into my junior year and I major in computer engineering.
For the longest time, I’ve known that I wanted to work on video games. Going off the top of my head, I’d say the games that had the biggest influence on me were Okami, The World Ends with You, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (The ending made me cry), The Metal Gear Series (I still need to beat 5) and the Tales of Series. I enjoy and play other games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Metroid Prime (it scared me as a kid) and Zelda, but these five really made me want to create video games.
I met the team (Jackripperz and Quintoki) the same time as Dredex at Game Jam. At that time, I had absolutely no experience in coding for video games and no experience coding outside of projects for school. Jackripperz showed the team some videos of Wenches and Loot and introduced me to the IDE we’re using to program the game. I don’t remember how I felt watching the game footage, but I don’t regret joining the team.
After seeing some particle work I did on the Game Jam project, Jackripperz invited me to work on Wenches and Loot. I had to take a break from working on the game shortly after due to the overbearing work load from my studies. Now that its summer, I’m dedicated to working and bringing Wenches and Loot the best I have to offer.
I recently finished programming an update to one of the magic spells and created some particles to enhance the atmosphere in one of the stages. We are all doing the best we can to make sure the game makes it to alpha as quickly as possible, so thank you for your patience. I’m just as excited as everyone else to see where this project where go and what this company can accomplish.
