PLANS FOR A SEQUEL

Hello again!

This is gonna be the last big post that I make for this page. After that, I'm afraid that it's goodbye :( Anyway, let's talk!

So in the last few posts, I talked about how I had plans for a sequel. Well... That's not entirely true.

Because I didn't just have ideas for Mediocre Nights 2, AND I had plans for a Mediocre Nights 3! And I'm gonna be telling you about both of them today.

Now obviously, there's not a lot that I can actually show for these games since I never was able to finish this first one. The only thing that I can show you are the character models that I planned on using. Here we go!

MEDIOCRE NIGHTS 2 - ECHOING MELODIES

The second game would've taken place several years after the events of the first game. It would be some time after FNaF 3, but before the events of Pizzeria Simulator. This was done so I could still include the character of Springtrap before he ultimately burns.

In this game, you would be playing as a paranormal investegator. You would be covering the case of alleged hauntings taking place at a house in the middle of nowhere. The couple that recently moved called after seeing shadowy figures in the night.

Upon doing your research, you learn that this house had previously been leased to someone else for the last 10 years. This info may possibly link to these possible hauntings.

THE ANTAGONISTS

In this game, the Mediocre Melodies would return as Withered! They all share similar designs to that of the withered FNaF 2 animatronics. Here is an image of all of them together:

I hadn't quite figured out what to do for their A.I. I guess we'll never truly know. But with that out of the way, lets talk about,

THE GAMEPLAY

The game would've been split into two modes:

  • Point & Click Free Roam

  • Main Night Mode

The Free Roam mode would've been very similar to that of Jolly 3 Chapter 2, where you can walk from room to room and it would be almost entirely pitch black. To see anything in the rooms, you would have to pull out your camera and take pictures of the room using the flash. You might see some of the characters stalking you while you play. However, you would only have a certain amount of pictures that you can take, so you have to use that camera flash wisely. In this mode, you are exploring the most "haunted" parts of the house. Finding these hot spots allows you to actvate Main Night Mode.

Once in Main Night Mode, you are now confined to that one room for 6 in-game hours while the ghosts visit you and try to attack you. At the end of each main night, you are asked a very important question: Is this room haunted enough to investigate further. By saying no, you take no further action in this room. By saying yes, you are obligated to set up a camera in that room. This is important because for the final main night of the game, you sit in front of a computer screen and monitor every camera that you set up. The amount of cameras you set up can prove to be an advantage or a possible disadvantage.

END OF GAME 2

After completing the main game, you would discover that in each of the haunted rooms, there was another mystery that you hadn't seen before: A small disk with a blinking red light. These are the disks used to alter what people see. These are what were causing the animatronics to appear around the room. And imprinted on these disks are the same label: Afton Robotics. The investigator barely recognizes this name as the man who was in charge of Freddy Fazbear's and was accused of possibly murdering children. While not everything has been uncovered, this is definetly a lead to your next clue, and a segue into the third game!

MEDIOCRE NIGHTS 3 - SINGING NIGHTMARES

The clues left behind from MN 2 would lead the player to an abandoned testing facility secretly owned by Afton Robotics. Upon entering, you would discover the Withered Mediocre Melodies. They have Afton's disks implanted on their bodies. They're activated, and they become more nightmarish versions of themselves: The Nightmare Melodies. Here are some renders:

Also! I would've introduced Candy Cadet into the mix as well:

The main idea of this game is that you would be going through a series of tests, and failing to complete them successsfully. If you fail, it results in death by animatronic! You would also have a tutorial unit in the form of a cartoon Spring Bonnie with a little cute voice to go with it!

THE BIG REVEALS!

As you play this game, you think that you are ultimately winning and cracking the case, but by the end, you learn that you've been playing into the hands of the mastermind behind all of this. Speaking of which, all evidence points to William Afton being behind everything, but it doesn't add up when taking his death into account.

But by the end, you learn that the man behind everything is Jeremy Fitzgerald! Jeremy has had an axe to grind with W. Afton and Freddy's Pizza after he lost his frontal lobe in The Bite of 87. He started becoming obsessed with manipulation through fearful imagery. He stumbled upon Afton Robotics after it had shutdown, and he started experimenting and continuing Afton's research. It was Jeremy who had leased out the home in the middle of no where, and he was using the house soley to experiment with the mind control disks. After making a breakthrough, he left the house and was monitoring it ever since. He was expecting someone to eventually find him. Finally, he reveals the final challange for the player: Springtrap!

He looks similar to how he looks in Pizzeria Simulator, but it would look more like the model from FNaF 3.

Jeremy was present at the auction that took place after Fazbear's Fright burned to the ground. When he heard that they would be selling a real animatronic, he gathered up as much money as he could. He got him, and brought him to the testing facility. This was when he discovered that Springtrap held the body and soul of his former rival, Willaim Afton.

I hadn't fully planned these tests at all, so I had no idea what this final confrontation would be like. However, I knew that it would end with Jeremy getting arrested, the testing facility would be officially locked up, and the remaining animatronics would be taken away to be destroyed. However, Springtrap eventually be lured away before he is found and it would tie in with FNaF 6.

And that's it! That is how the Mediocre Nights story would end. If I was better at making games, then I personally think that this could've been a cool trilogy. Let me know if you agree!

If you've read this far, thank you so much! Thank you for your support, it means the world to me! Goodbye everyone!

The game itself is moving at an ok pace. I'm spending a lot of time testing small bits and checking bugs. I have a few more environments to make before starting on the A.I.
