Plans for the game

I didn't work on the game much over the weekend, since I've decided to take weekends off from working on this (Because I became a workaholic somehow), but I still want to make a devlog, just so I'm not completely silent.

Anyways, this devlog is basically just about the plans for the future of the game.

As you may know, the original Zenand Garden was plagued with the issue of there being no direction for the game. This was due to the game changing drastically during development, due to me being unable to create the game I wanted.

To quote my last Devlog on the game, "The main reason is the fact that I no longer have a direction for Zenand Garden." (a bit later) "This problem has been steadily increasing as a problem over the time I've been working on the game, as I initially intended for it to be a completely different game..."

So, question: How do I plan on stopping that issue? Well simple. With the original Zenand Garden, there were 3 phases of development:

  1. The idle phase
This phase was when the game was planned to be played idly throughout the day. You'd have it open on your desktop, the Zenand would do stuff, and occasionally, you'd have to check in the ensure everything was going fine.

  2. The exploration phase
If you played the original, you'll know the game took place in an area called "Area 1", despite being the only area (except for the island way later).
This phase was supposed to have a semi-open world for you to explore, and maybe find other areas to set up a base.

  3. The Area 1 phase
Characterized by the fact you only had Area 1 to explore, and very little to do.

So, looking at this, we can easily see where the issue of the original was, when I essentially scrapped the idea of having multiple areas, thus moving into phase 3.

The final update for the game, the Island Expansion, shows I even realized this. But it was too little too late.

Anyways, my plan for Zenand Garden: Factory Fresh, is to return to phase 2, since I'm now smarter, and have far more control over my game, thanks to being able to program.

My plan is to make Area 1, just a small part of the games map, and just 1 of the potential base areas.

However, if you played the original Zenand Garden, you shouldn't expect for Area 1 to go completely unchanged, there's quite a bit of it that I want to expand upon, that should've been expanded upon in the original.

Now then, that's all for this devlog, I'll be off my weekend break tomorrow (since today is the 4th of July)

See ya then

Rockin the Guitar, an Axe like Guitar I made for my Uni project

Out of boredom and curiosity, I coded Sailor Jupiter's Argentine Backbreaker.

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
