Problems i have with the TRTF community

Hey guys! This is my first post on GameJolt and it talks about some problems i have been noticing in the TRTF community for quite some time.

The first problem i would like to talk about is how the TRTF community treats people who make videos about TRTF and it's history and people who critisize TRTF at all.

I first saw this 7-8 months ago when @RAB MATTHEW and @mrs_sugar made the posts as seen above. (from left to right, posts 1 and 3)

The problem i have with these posts is how demeaning hostile they are to people who make videos about TRTF, for literally no reason.

The purpose of the videos is to document and discuss the history of TRTF. Of course, TRTF doesn't exactly have the cleanest history when it comes to things the developer had done, the quality of the games, the story, etc.

The videos have to mention these details because that is what the videos are about. Even if those things may not be good, they need to be discussed for the sake of preserving the history of TRTF and bringing it to the eyes of more people.

The posts repeatedly mock the videos for including the negative elements of TRTF. Tyler stealing, the bad code, the bad gameplay, the technical illegality of TRTF 1, the bad story, the cancellations, the incest drama, the super cancer, the dreadful truth, again, literally every single negative aspect of the franchise. And again, the posts mock the videos for MENTIONING the things stated above. Acting as if the creators shouldn't even be allowed to mention the things stated above. Mrs_Sugar's post even says they should be TRTF fans to make videos on TRTF, which is simply untrue. Anyone should be allowed to make these videos if the subject interests them, even if they are not fans of it per say.

Another thing they will use is time. Every time someone brings up something negative from the past, they use the fact that it was awhile ago to somehow try to discredit the videos and the creators. Acting as if just because it happened awhile ago means it shouldn't be mentioned at all. While yes, i do believe people can change, i do not believe that just because they do, we should start censoring history.

You'll see this on other platforms too, not just GameJolt. You'll see it in YouTube comment sections under videos that cover TRTF. One example i remember is @2000Studios leaving a comment under a video saying "I'm glad you didn't do the classic FNaFtuber thing of mentioning Tyler stealing Candy." Or @jesterslumber under Minaxa's video just saying "slop". (i was unable to provide screenshots)

That's another thing, you'll see these people being referred to as "FNaFtubers", "FNaF clickbaiters", "TRTF haters" and even "FNaF fans" in a demeaning and hostile way for some reason.

I don't get why "FNaFtuber" is used as a derogatory term by these people. The job of "FNaFtubers" is to make videos discussing FNaF and i don't get why they are labelled as "clickbait" when most of the things stated in the videos are factual. Sure, some things aren't. But given how so much of TRTF's history is obstructed through deleted GameJolt pages, deleted GameJolt posts, obscure Twitter accounts and posts, obscure Reddit accounts and posts, even obscure people, it is difficult to properly research this franchise, let alone not get some things wrong. I can testify that as a TRTF fan since 2021, there are frequently times you think you know everything, and then some obscure post gets dug back up and changes your view on things, even as of renently this is still happening and it will continue to happen for as long as there are undiscovered things left. Which is why i really don't like the hostility these people are treated with.

I also dislike the usage of the term "TRTF haters". Mainly because over my years in this community, i have failed to see people who go out of their way to hate on TRTF for no reason. It just seems like a term these people use to demean people who speak of the negative aspects of the franchise.

And lastly i dislike the term "FNaF fans" being used in a derogatory way because TRTF fans are just a subsection of FNaF fans in a way. Sure, you can be a TRTF fan without being a FNaF fan, TRTF might remind you of classic FNaF, i get that. I just really dislike this notion that FNaF fans are this rabid, hateful community that is out to get TRTF fans for no reason at all. Sure there is the occasional controversy, but every community has those and none of them relate to TRTF whatsoever. You can see these people believe these videos are made specifically to turn people against TRTF (as seen in screenshot 5) and i have to ask " What do these creators gain from tarnishing the reputation of a decade old fan-game that is already controversial enough as is.

So, that about sums up one of the problems i have with the TRTF community.

The second one is the problem that TRTF fans have with FNaF: In Real Time for some reason. From what i can understand it's because FNaF:IRT released on TRTF's 10 year anniversary. And these people assume that the developer did it to capitalize off the hype for TRTF, which is completely unreasonable considering few people outside the TRTF community celebrate the anniversaries. (i was unable to provide screenshots)

Another reason is that TRTF fans are projecting by calling other fangames "not that good" and trying to say something by pointing out flaws in other fan-games or official games in an attempt to invalidate any critiques people have on TRTF. Like in screenshot 11 where @JRWELLS finds this obscure fan-game and tries to somehow use it's graphics to invalidate the problems people have with TRTF's graphics. Or in screenshot 15 where @K_Dev says "Can everyone agree FNaF:IRT is worse than all of the TRTF games?" Which is simply untrue. They attack FNaF games, popular and obscure fangames in an attempt to defend TRTF for some reason. And i just have to ask "Why?". There is nothing wrong with TRTF being objectively bad. There is nothing wrong with liking something bad. And doing this is a telltale sign of your insecurity for liking something objectively bad. Tyler was still learning how to properly make games at the time and all of this defending and attacking is completely pointless.

But yeah, that's about it. It just really bothers me the way the TRTF community treats these people. I initially wasn't even going to make this post when i first saw this 7-8 months ago, because i thought we had moved past it. But then, @K_dev made the post as seen above ( screenshot 13) above and i realized it was still a problem.

I really want this kind of stuff to stop, especially considering we have the KSM Expo 2025 coming up and i know this kind of stuff will start happening again. I know because of how protective and passionate TRTF fans are. I get being passionate for something, especially when we have a situation like this. Where we want to allow Tyler to fulfill his dream in game development. But if we want to do that, then we shouldn't be attcking people who talk about the past. We should not be censoring them, because if we really want Tyler to fulfill his dream, we should not have to bury the past. We should let Kriya Studios' work and actions speak for themselves. This sort of hostility is not a good look for Tyler, for Kriya or for us.

Thank you if you have made it this far. I was originally going to remain as more of a silent observer of the FNaF and TRTF communities, aswell as other ones untill i was ready to make myself more known and start my game development journey. But now, i have made myself known because of this. And now, who knows. I might start interacting more with this community and others. Again, who knows.

Thank you for reading.

Would you prefer that animatronics be static when there are on the doors, or they should have a little movement animation?
