Hello there, to try and be as communicative as i can i've decided to start monthly progress reports!
It's been a month since the reveal trailer and, even though progress hasnt been anything insane it's certainly been incredibly fun and well paced.
So, the game; Multiple maps are in the process of blockout (Building their layout before actual map creation starts), these maps arent being made in an order so late-game and early areas are in progress.
Nothing asset-heavy is going on yet as i'm trying to follow the "make it exist first, make it good later" mindset i had been avoiding all this time and it's certainly been fun not having to worry about importing/creating a model when i move to make a new room.
Regarding functionality, the most mention worthy thing right now is the weapon system as it's pretty much finished. Player movement is more complex than i'm used to so that isnt being worked on at the moment, but the plan is for there to be adaptive movement depending on the situation (like vaulting over objects or moving through ledges on the wall)
Incase you arent familiar with Alpha Remains, The legacy version had a chapter 2 with multiple parts, sadly it never got past Part 1 and the Intro. Stuff has been fully thought-out for the remake and it'll be keeping the same part formula, although each part has been stripped of previous filler content to prioritize the story and overall gameplay uniqueness. Now, i do wanna clarify this entire report refers to Chapter 2 as it's the biggest chapter of the game (therefore the need for parts), the current plan is for the game to release without Chapter 1, as to be honest, i dont have any unique ideas for it just yet. do know this doesnt comprise the story as it's already been set in stone and chapter 1 is barely a requirement, so for release there'll be a quick recap of the original BATIM chapter 1 alpha before the game begins.
That's everything i can think of for the moment, definitely let me know if there's other stuff i should elaborate on or what you'd like to see next! For now have some quite stretched and low quality screenshots.
