Hello there! This is colinator27, the lead programmer/coder for this game, if you are wondering. I want to talk about two cool features we have added into the game, that will (obviously) be featured in Chapter 1.
So this is not really a full progress report, only code-related progress.
Game Jolt
I am proud to announce that we have our own (built from scratch) integration with the Game Jolt Game API! When the game releases, in the new settings menu, you will be able to log in with your username and game token.
Suddenly, your profile page will update and will state that you are currently playing the game. Additionally, you can achieve trophies that will increase the amount of EXP on your Game Jolt account.
I bet some of you will have a hard time trying to figure out where some of the secret trophies we made are achieved… ;)
Now, I know some of you reading this probably do not have a Game Jolt account. That’s fine! This is completely optional.
Gamepads
Now gamepads can be used just like in the original Undertale! If not even better, because our game uses a more up-to-date system, whereas Undertale uses a legacy system that only works on Windows. Our game will be compatible with both XInput and DirectInput devices.
There’s more! If you use something such as DS4Windows (for PS4 controllers) or launch the game through Steam (with the controller setup), you can get even more! Gamepads can vibrate when you get hit by a bullet, and even change color if it is supported. These effects can be toggled in the settings menu.
Speaking of the settings menu, there is a dedicated sub-menu for gamepads! You can change which buttons map to which controls, and you can change the deadzones/thresholds.
Anyway, I cannot wait for Chapter 1 to be completed. After so many assets, scripts, among other complications, we are gradually approaching completion… The current percentage of completion is at about a little over 70% now.
