Hello everyone! Parker here, back with another progress report! I've been posting a lot more screenshots from the game as of late, and while these screenshots have provided a decent amount of intrigue, this full report will help to better document and elaborate on everything I've been working on and showing off. So without further ado, let us begin.
REPORT OVERVIEW
Gameplay has been rebalanced once more
New items, weapons and armour have been implemented and are currently being tested
New enemies have been added
New music has been written
New side content is being workshopped and tested
Now to get into the nitty gritty of it all.
THE FIGHT PIT
Let's get the big one out of the way first, shall we?
A lot of my time has been dedicated to adding a rather large new optional area- The New Yordana Underground Fight Pit! To put it simply, if you're having a hard time levelling up, or you feel like getting overpowered, you can pop down to the fight pit, fight a couple enemies, and be on your way. There are an additional 10 unique new enemies, a couple new music tracks, and a hearty reward for clearing the whole thing out. I'm excited to see how you'll all do once it's released.
NEW ITEMS
I've been adding a whole load of new items. Instead of dwelling on that, I'm just gonna list them all.
Molotov cocktails - AOE throwing items that light enemies on fire.
Bandages - Low level healing item that stop bleeding.
Speed - Raises speed.
Steroids - Buffs attack and max HP.
A selection of bulletproof helmets.
A wider selection of guns and melee weapons.
There are quite a few more I'm in the process of implementing, but to explain those, I'm going to need a dedicated section.
BOONS
A brand new armour type, Boons!
These are unique items that can only be gained through special means, such as finding a certain NPC or clearing out a certain hideout. They can be equipped by both Freya and Ami and grant powerful effects. For example: Ami now starts with the Creator's Blessing, a boon that raises all stats and reduces the cost of her special moves. There are plenty of Boons who's effects aren't too special, but there are a few that I believe will add a greater amount of depth, and strategy, to the combat.
NEW MUSIC
There aren't many new songs I can show off- I can really only show one- but know that there are a handful of them. I feel I'm becoming much more proficient with music composition, and I hope you'll notice that too. By the time this post goes up, there will be a new track added to the game's page: a proper boss theme! I plan to use it for every boss that I feel isn't too "plot-relevant", so it's going to show up a lot in the final game. Here's hoping it's easy on the ears.
And that's pretty much all I have to say!
I do wanna make it clear that I'm not going to be publishing another public demo ever. The demo that's currently up on the page is all you'll be getting until the game is finished. Myself and my playtester want to make sure the game is as good as can be before releasing it, rather than chasing hype by releasing a bunch of unfinished demos. I'm looking forward to sharing the finished product with you all when the time comes.
