Welcome to the first progress report for “Friday Night Funkin’: The Origami King!” We hope to keep a monthly stream of these going until or close to project completion!
This progress report will contain a recap of everything teased so far, the current state of development, addressing some frequently asked questions, & more!
Without further ado, let’s jump into it!
A RECAP
Here’s a quick recap of the many things shown so far across all social platforms!
Please read our progress summary! -- While more jokey, this is a short summary of what to expect from the mod!
Our F3 Trailer!! -- When we were accepted into F3 when we had very little stuff done. However, throughout the month-long timeframe we had to create our trailer, we improved & truly made something everyone on the team is proud of! Check it out here!
A tease of the story mode & shop screens! -- The story mode screen will be altered slightly to reflect some changes, but here is a first look! The shop is something very special which we will get into later :)
The opening of Elastic Entertainer! -- Who would be more drama-filled than the rubber band stationery! We decided to give the rubber band it's own little special opening before a transition to the main stage.
A sneak peek of the background for Overlook Mountain! -- These are the (stationary) parts of the stage assembled! :)
Language switching options! -- Currently, we plan for Spanish and English support to be built in-game! Both @NinKey
and @Mol_Knight
will be handling these translations. You will be able to access languages from the options menu!

THE CURRENT STATE OF DEVELOPMENT
Oh boy, here’s the meaty stuff!
Progress Percentages
Chapter 1 - Progress: 100%! -- Chapter 1 is fully complete for the second demo! Cutscenes, songs, stages, etc! Of course, we’ll tweak little things here and there, but there’s nothing to report on this part! Chapter 1 will include 3 new songs + characters & 2 new stages!

Sing with Toad on Picnic Road!
Chapter 2 - Progress: 70%! -- Chapter 2 is close to completion! All songs and characters are done!
What’s special about chapter 2 is that it includes 3 stages! Stage one and three are complete while stage two is nearing completion. Chapter 2 Song 2 has taken the most time out of all songs due to a special mechanic, but it has recently been finished! On top of that, cutscenes for chapter 2 are still a work in progress.

Here’s what happens after the first bit of Elastic Entertainer!
Chapter 3 - Progress: 80%! -- Chapter 3’s stages and characters are all complete! One song is left to tweak as well as the cutscenes!

Check out our new Olivia sprite! You can actually play the concept of this mod which includes an old version of Olivia as well as some non-copyright free Vocaloid songs!
Regarding Chapters 4, 5, & 6: Development is sparse on these chapters so we can't give you specific progress percentages. Currently, our team is working hard to finish up Chapters 1, 2, and 3 for a second demo release!
General Development
Storywriting:
All story beats are written! Storyboard sketches for all cutscenes have been done as well. Scriptwriting comes last and will soon be started for Chapters 2 and 3.
The Main Menu:
The main menu has been completely redone! We won’t share it yet, but it will include all original artwork, a UI redesign, and two new buttons!
Title Screen Changes:

The title screen has been altered slightly from the demo, giving Olivia a more distinct loading screen art style.
The Shop:
The shop is currently still in its concept stage. As of right now, nothing has been added to it, but development will start soon!
What can you expect from the shop?
The shop is an area you will unlock that will allow you to purchase extra content such as skins and songs! With what currency you may ask?

Coins, of course!
Coins will be earned through completing songs in both Story Mode and Freeplay. The better you do in a song the more coins you’ll earn, so make sure to play smart!
Since the shop will require multiple features, it is unclear whether the shop will make it into the second demo or not, stay tuned for more updates!
Future Possibilities:
Modcharts
New mechanics for every Legion of Stationery
New modes
More UI changes
More language options

RELEASE DATES GOING FORWARD
So we’ve been talking a lot about a second demo throughout this progress report… and we’d like to share some more information about the release date for that, as well as moving forward.
We are planning to release a chapter 1-3 demo sometime by the end of September.
Our plan up to release:
Finish the demo and do bug testing/minor fixes within the team.
Begin sending out early access builds for testers. Testers have not been selected yet and spots will most likely be advertised through the team's twitters.
Collect tester feedback and fix any bugs that are discovered/discuss general issues.
Publish the three-chapter demo.
Please note the demo is planned for late September. We won’t confirm it just yet and will release it when it’s ready.
After this demo is published, the whole team will be taking a break in order to avoid burnout. When we return we’ll all be in school. This means development will have to slow down. To combat this we will begin releasing individual chapters with extra features a little at a time; allowing us to create a constant stream of updates while avoiding burnout.
MUSIC
Listen to Getting Creasey on YouTube or GameJolt! -- This is the title screen remix for “Friday Night Funkin’ The Origami King!”
New Music:
We've added a new song, "Folded" to the GameJolt music player! This will be the new Game Over music!

FAQ TIME
Q: What will happen to the GameBanana version of this mod?
A: @1emonking ![]()
If the demo wasn’t already published to GameBanana, we would’ve kept this mod GameJolt exclusive. However, since most of our followers are still on GameBanana we will publish the three-chapter demo there as well.
Q: How will the GameJolt version differ then?
A: @1emonking ![]()
To bring more people over to the GameJolt version, it will be advertised on GameBanana through a page update. The GameJolt version will be our main priority. Updates & progress reports will come here first. On top of that, we are looking into adding achievements for the mod.
Q: Why are you using a different soundfont for boyfriend?
A: @Snak_ ![]()
a handful of people have been asking why we don't use a better or more accurate voice for him, well... to put it simply the orgami king soundtrack is very varied and it makes it easier to bring the right feeling into the tracks with the flexibility of the one we are using (and honestly I don't think it sounds too bad) For a good comparison listen to Eddy River. Original boyfriend goes first while the new boyfriend goes second. There's also a chance I am using it wrong but that's basically the reason I'm using this one
If you have any other questions, please ask them in the comments of this post!
