Project Update - May 2026

Hello everybody, Flames here!

Today is the 9th anniversary of my "DISBELIEF" animation, which our game Undertale: Disbelief is a playable recreation of!

With the recent influx of new community members, I'd like to try and give you a brief summary of what's been happening with the game for the past 7 years, since the demo first released.

What's been happening?

If you've been following the project for a while, you know that we've ran into a few technical hurdles that have prevented us from bringing you this game in a timely manner. Over the years, we've had difficult times where we'd realize our current game engine was simply not cutting it.

Not once, not twice, but three times we've had to abandon all our progress and start from scratch working on this game. Game engines are like building foundations - you don't want to build a house on an unstable base. These decisions were not made lightly; they were necessary to help support our long-term plans for the game.

Other smaller, yet nonetheless crucial reasons have too played a part in delaying the game. Our team of programmers has always fluctuated a lot in size and availability, with most having very little free time to dedicate to the project. Add on conflicting schedules, time zones, and you'll find that 7 years can seem to go by faster than you can say "Spaghetti".

We understand that it's been enough time by now that a lot of people have lost interest completely. We are extremely grateful for those of you are sticking around to see what we have in store for you in the future!

What's next?

We're gonna work towards finishing up Phases 3-4 of the battle sequence, and releasing that in an update to you all in the hopefully not-so-far future!

No release date can be given just yet, but keep your eyes on this Game Jolt community to catch any and all updates or announcements! @Draco1225 , our lead developer has been in a pretty good flow lately working on the game, if I do say so myself :)

If you want to hear even more from us, be sure to join the Disbelief Discord server where both him and I are quite active, showing off even more behind-the-scenes stuff from the game.

Final Chance Thoughts

I wanna give you all a huge thanks for the patience, love and positivity you have been sending me and my team.

None of this would be have been possible without you, and we are so excited to finally release this game to you!

Happy Disbelief anniversary, everyone.

Some of Phase 4's attack I got done earlier... I was surprised that it was still dodgeable with Undertale's blue soul gravity, but I might make some adjustments to the beginning part just to make it slightly less tight...? It might not be necessary.
