Adventure Jam has to be one of the best jam’s I’ve entered. The quality of games that have come out from the 2 week time limit that was given is extraordinary. All of the games entered deserve an award.
I’m sad to say I didn’t get around to playing as many games as I would have liked to before voting ended, but that won’t stop me from trying to play them all! I have no idea when I’ll finish this quest I’ve given myself, as I’m awful when it comes to playing games nowadays. But hey, games are awesome, and I have to find time for them!
Grimstorm placed in 17th place, which I am very happy with. I know that it wasn’t top material due to it lacking more adventure elements, and it also being quite difficult. But I had a blast developing it, and I’m pleased that people are playing it! At the time of this news post, 11127 adventurers have perished and 30 have succeeded in their quest. Let’s try and get that to 50!
I don’t have large plans for Grimstorm post-jam, but I am currently working on a release that should come out relatively soon (don’t quote me on that). It greatly optimises everything, plus it makes use of Delta Time for smoother gameplay on lower framerates. I’ve also been in the process of porting it to OUYA, but I have hit a few roadblocks in regards to optimisation and memory leaks (uh oh!). If you’re interested in that, check out this thread on OUYA’s forum.
I do find the world of Grimstorm interesting, and I wish to come back to it in the future. But for now, you can rest easy, traveller.
