“Spacenstein HD” is becoming its own game, a full fledged sequel to this little experiment. It will have the same core concepts - a Russian and US astronaut lost on a strange planet — but will be a much more “complete” game than this. Deeper RPG elements, more complex maps, more enemy types with better AI, WASD-Mouselook controls, better physics, and full 3D graphics. In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.
In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
