This is a very WiP preview into developing story generating game Daily Chthonicle.
The stories it generates are becoming more and more interesting, but at present, it is more like a toy than a game. It is most likely too complicated and difficult for most to enjoy, there are also still glitches preventing the player from better insight into the story.
Still as a demo, you can now try out the “next stage”. I expanded the database to allow a serial murder case, which is now investigated over any number of days. Each day at exactly 23:00, a new murder is generated with new clues, some new people etc. However all the characters and events are connected in some way, some murders are the serial killer’s doing and some not, there are red herrings and evidence in abundance.
While maybe not exactly “playable”, the game is at least “interactable”, allowing the player to send out reporters and do some investigating on their own.
The reporters may be sent to investigate any of the characters, and will report their findings and evidenence they recover over the phone.
The player may spend time either: collecting forensic samples from a person (right click menu), matching thus recovered samples with traces found on evidence, or follow the suspects.
A lot of things don’t work yet tho so to finally see whodunnit, just try to arrest anyone and the whole picture will be revealed. To investigate it, I recommend using Pin and Pin Alone on the blackboard (again, right click menu) in combination with the “?” icon.
Enjoy!
