This project started as a gamejam game for #krassjam. At the end of the jam, I really loved the simply puzzle format. I also felt proud as this wasn’t an idea I had just copied, I came up with my own game with my own set of rules. I think for that reason, I have a bit of affinity for this project. My other games have often had influences or been genre hybrids.
I decided I wanted to polish the game off, and deal with any bugs / issues that were obvious in the game. What became quite clear quickly was actually - the scope of this project wasn’t that huge. For once, I could actually finish a game off and include everything I wanted - and perhaps finish it within a decent time frame! As the game didn’t have a huge amount of scope - it meant that I could try and learn and apply new skills. The main ones I had on the agenda were integrating adverts, in app purchases, a networked “high score” table, timed loading screens that displayed hints, and in-app customisations (settings / colour schemes).
First stop, fixing the bugs and getting the gameplay to a state I’m happy with.
