Upcoming design changes
While playtesting I found the game was too predictable. As anyone who read the description knows, the purpose of PM is to minimize randomness so that the player doesn't feel like luck is deciding whether they win or die.
And in it's current state the game lives up to that purpose very well, however there's an elephant in the room that I can't ignore anymore:
predictability isn't scary.
That's not to say I haven't made an entire discord call (and myself) scream and jump when I died one time, it's just that any player paying attention won't be surprised at all after a few game overs.
Don't worry, I'm not adding randomness to character movements or anything, but little things like "will she scream at me before the clock ticks over", and the starting location of characters can be slightly randomized without making the main game entirely luck dependent.
So if you die and have to replay a night you might get a slightly different character configuration. That should squash out any "guaranteed win strategy" and make you think on the fly more without actually rolling dice with your success.
A sneak peek at the new look and feel
As of right now, every single screenshot and asset on the page is now outdated. Characters have undergone massive material changes since I put the page up. I also made big changes to every room besides the office. Things are still changing very quickly though, I'll probably have some newer screenshots on the game page soon.
People on the discord have seen a lot of behind the scenes stuff, I think it's time to post some of my progress to GameJolt.
I work on the main game alone, so sorry if progress seems slow.
