Please note that there won't always be huge, crazy news to share every time. Team Sunrise is still a pretty small team, and there's only so much we can get done in a week.

Fireside

We recently had our first stream on GameJolt! Only a few members of the team were able to make it, and only a few other people joined it, but it was a fun time nonetheless!

Sonic Sunrise

Alright, finally time to actually start talking about the game! We didn't work on a lot besides music this week, which you can find here.

For whatever reason, no one has been able to listen to the songs on the soundtrack. The files are MP3's, under 30MB, and I was able to upload them with no problems on other sites. I contacted GameJolt about it, so hopefully they resolve the issue soon.

So, this isn't really from this week, but it's close enough for me. Team Sunrise was having a huge problem, which was that we couldn't decide what color Metal Sonic's cape would be. So we asked you guys to tell us your opinions!

We showed you guys four different pieces of concept art made by @Turtle_ramen , and you guys made your voices heard!

"Dark Blue (Not Shaded)" was in the lead for a bit, but it's shaded version won in the end.

Upset that your favorite design didn't win? Don't worry, we'll probably do more polls for character designs in the future!

Again, not really from this week, but recently we shared the designs for both Amy and Metal using @Turtle_ramen 's concept art. The reception has been very positive, and we're glad you guys like their designs (and yes, we made Metal's final design after the poll)!

Next, you may have noticed that all of the art for the Sonic Sunrise Community's header and channels are gone. Don't worry, it's intentional. We're just going to be making new art instead of reusing old pieces!

Finally, what you all have been waiting for; the Zone Poll! We announced that for every chapter we'd have four areas based off of the best zones from the game it's being based on. Chapter 1 of Sonic Sunrise will be based off of Sonic 1, so we asked what zone everyone wanted to see appear most from that game.

With 44 votes in total, here are the results!

Coming in last was Final Zone at 5%, which was to be expected.

In a whopping four way tie for third place we had Marble Zone, Spring Yard Zone, Labyrinth Zone, and Scrap Brain Zone, each at 9%!

In second place was Green Hill Zone at 16%.

And in first we had Starlight Zone with an outstanding 43% of votes!

So, which four zones are we going to use?

The first zone we're going to use will be:

Green Hill Zone

Obviously we need the most iconic location in all of Sonic history!

Now, we know people are tired of seeing it, so we plan on spicing up the area by putting our own spin on it, adding new concepts and ideas to the classic zone!

The second zone we're going to use will be:

Marble Zone

To add diversity to the areas, what's better than the ancient underground complex, flooded with boiling lava?

We're going to be keeping the area relatively the same, but we'll add a few new things to the area!

The third zone we're going to use will be:

Labyrinth Zone

You know, because water levels are amazing in Sonic games.

The partially flooded narrow corridors are going to be back in Sunrise! Expect to see new ideas added to this zone as well!

The fourth zone we're going to use will be:

Star Light Zone

Obviously we're going to use it since it was the most voted in the poll!

This fast-paced zone will also be seeing new ideas, such as more city elements, which we got the idea from the buildings in the far background!

Now, I know I said we were going to have four zones in total, but I lied. We're going to have a fifth, smaller zone, which will be:

Final Zone

Where else would you fight the final boss?

Combined with Scrap Brain Zone, you'll go through Dr. Robotnik's main HQ, and stop him from harming the Earth with his robotniks!

So basically, every zone will have some changes to them.

Other Sonic Fan Content

This section will highlight other Sonic fan content such as games, animations, music, art, and more!

This week we're going to aim the spotlight on the fan game 1992 - The Battle of Tails by @MafyProyect!

In this retro shooter, Tails is on a new adventure in the air to fight the evil Dr. Eggman with his friend, the red vintage-style biplane, the Tornado!

If you're into retro shoot 'em ups, you're going to want to follow this promising project!
