Satoshi Kanemaru (金丸智), AKA Spider-Wolf (スパイダーウルフ), is the overall main protagonist of MetaMobius, as well as an Electric-type MetaMobian wolf. Satoshi grew up in Sōkyō with his parents, Takuya and Hanako Kanemaru; more specifically, they lived in a humble ramen shop in a quiet residential neighborhood. Satoshi never left Sōkyō once, so he became accustomed to city life and knew his way around town. At some point, when Satoshi was still a very young pup, he built a small robot and named it “Kumōkami”, whom he grew to consider his only friend at the time. At school, he was often bullied by other kids and was way too shy to socialize with them, mainly because of his autism. Nevertheless, he instead formed a close relationship with Kumōkami, who fully understood how he felt. By the age of 13, Satoshi became a graffiti artist, painting colorful murals with spray cans just for fun… but sometimes, it gets him into trouble (especially with the police). But even so, he wouldn't mean to vandalize someone's property. Not only that, but upon finding out that his parents' restaurant was in serious debt, he (and Kumōkami) would soon become involved in Bot-Fighting. As such, he would sneak out a few times and sometimes lie to his parents about it, desperately attempting to earn enough money to pay off the debt. One day, he challenges the gangster and Bot-Fight champion, Big Panda (and Little Panda), who was overconfident; thanks to Satoshi's strategy, Kumōkami destroyed Little Panda, much to Big Panda's anger since he was a sore loser after the battle… so much so that he then ordered his thugs to beat up Satoshi (keep in mind that he's still just a kid, but Panda didn't really care), though he is immediately rescued by his father, Takuya, who took him away with his motorbike and immediately begins chastising his son's actions. Despite their best efforts to escape from Panda and his thugs, both parties, along with everyone else involved with the event, are caught, arrested, and subsequently thrown in jail. But eventually, Satoshi and Takuya are released that same night thanks to Hanako, Satoshi's mother, and Takuya's wife. The moment they've returned home, Takuya would scold Satoshi for his involvement (as if it wasn't bad enough that he's a graffiti artist), suggesting that he should put his intelligence and creativity to better use, while Satoshi defends himself, insisting that he was trying to help both his parents climb out of debt. While Takuya appreciates that he was trying to help, you may never know if any of the Bot-Fighters could deposit real or counterfeit money. Although he assures his son that his help will be needed the right way, until then, he'll have to use his intelligent and creative mind responsibly, to which he agreed. A week later, a science fair was taking place at his school; there, he presented Microbots, tiny, pill-shaped robots. Individually, they were small, but together they used electromagnetism to link up and do anything he could imagine. They're all controlled by a neurotransmitter, which is a special headband read his brainwaves; it acts like a remote control for the Microbots, letting him move the whole swarm just by thinking about it. But then, as the science fair was going perfectly well, a mysterious spider appeared out of nowhere and bit Satoshi on his hand, making him feel dizzy until he passed out. When he woke up, he began to experience the changes within himself; for example, he could see without his glasses. He can also climb walls, detect danger, his speed has been increased (just not the same level as Sonic), and he can turn invisible. But to top it all off, he even has electrical powers; at first, these powers seemed pretty scary (even for him). But with a lot of time and practice, he's learned how to control them… to an extent, at least for now. Of course, since he's a pure Electric-type MetaMobian, he is unable to organically shoot webs out of his body (although, if he did, then he would be a dual-type Bug/Electric MetaMobian). So instead, he invented a pair of wrist-mounted mechanical Web-Shooters. By using a little something called the "5 Steps of the Scientific Method" (Observation, Hypothesis, Prediction, Experimentation, and Conclusion), maybe he could find use with these powers. Speaking of which, to test out his new powers, Satoshi would compete in an underground tournament, where he would fight against other MetaMobians. Sure, his father told him to put his creative mind to good use, but that doesn't change the fact that the ramen shop is still in debt. He hopes the prize money isn't counterfeit this time around; it would be his only shot at saving his home. But on the other hand, they wouldn't take a young teenager seriously (even if he, too, is a MetaMobian), so he would need a disguise; more specifically, a homemade costume. Upon entering the tournament, Satoshi would call himself "Spider-Wolf"; a lot of MetaMobians Spider-Wolf fought were tough, but none of them were as tough as his final opponent, Dragon King. In the end, however, Spider-Wolf won and earned the prize money, hopefully enough to pay off his parents' debt. But even so, this was truly far from a victory. Earlier, things had already gone downhill as an armed robber ran by him… and he was too naïve to notice. When he returned home from the tournament, he found police cars right in front of the ramen shop, and what we saw would haunt him forever; his father was shot, lying on the floor, bleeding. After his father was put in an ambulance, Spider-Wolf wanted revenge. There was a police chase in progress, and Spider-Wolf was hunting down the suspect until the chase ended in an abandoned warehouse, where Spider-Wolf brutally and angrily attacked the shooter until he discovered that it was the same thief he inadvertently let run past him at the arena. From there, Spider-Wolf was faced with his very first Karmic Moment: Justice or Revenge?
😇Justice: This is the first step to becoming a hero. Spider-Wolf would not only spare the shooter but also give him to the police. That night, he would learn a very important lesson… with great power, there must also come great responsibility.
👿Revenge: This is the first step to becoming a villain. Spider-Wolf would kill the shooter, not only finishing him off, but also succumbing to his anger. When the police got inside, they could only find a corpse; an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Of course, that's just the beginning of Spider-Wolf walking down a dark path.
Either way, this was just the start.
