Progress Report
The next location has officially started development! A small difference that I'll call out is that the amount of red slots has been increased. While I was planning out this new area, I may have gotten carried away and it's now bigger than I initially planned.
Development has been... Iffy. I have been extremely busy the past couple months and it's been difficult to find time to work on the game. But don't fret! Since school is finishing up, I should have much more time to work on the game over the summer.

Welcome to the Kindle Woods!
Welcome to the Kindle Woods. As you can see, its orange pallet is quite different from the green you've seen previously. Actually, the name "Kindle Woods" comes from the orange color it takes during the summer and autumn seasons. I wanted each major area to have it's own color pallet, to keep the game feeling fresh.
This will be the first place the "adventure" really starts, being able to encounter enemies, solve puzzles, and whatnot.
Rivers like this one will have to be crossed by shoving rocks to make a bridge. At least, I think they're rocks...

Mechanic Insight
As I'm using RPG Maker MV for this project, the default attack system is rather lackluster. I think it would be a good idea to theme the attacking mechanics off of your main weapon, a gun.
This is a little example animation to how I'd like the attacking system to work. Every time you attack an enemy, a little minigame will play out, requiring you to click on little targets to deal damage. After all of them have been clicked, or you run out of time, the damage will be dealt.
This looks very simple, but to keep it from being boring, I will probably mix things up a bit here and there.
This is honestly the part of the game I'm least looking forward to. While RPG Maker is mostly a no-coding engine, I might have to code this myself, and it will most likely be the hardest part of making this game. Wish me luck.

Finishing Thoughts
I kinda want to do some sort of "Meet the Cast" posts. They could be little mini-posts introducing some of the major characters with small descriptions. Let me know if that's something you're interested in seeing!
And that concludes the Devlog!
Everything shown here is in very early development and may change in the final product.
