Story of Ladder Up - Episode 1 - Idea and Development

Hello everyone, here is the first episode (Story of Ladder Up), in this episode I will talk about how I got the idea for this game and how I developed it before the release.

The idea of the game came to me 2 years ago when I just started learning the engine (Unity) and then I had many prototypes of different games that I later abandoned, one of them was a prototype of a 3d horror game from the first person, it only had ready lighting, a flashlight and a small platform on which I made a ladder. A few months later, when I was writing a term paper (if that term paper was a game (SOUL)) then I showed my friends not only (SOUL), but also this prototype, and one of my friends said: (Oh, is this a horror movie about stairs?) And then I thought: (Why not make a similar game?) Then we also remembered about the SCP-087 games, and I decided to make a horror story about stairs like in SCP-087, but instead of going down and being scared, I decided to do the opposite so that the player went up the stairs and was scared. I came up with the idea, but I decided to start implementing it after I finish my term paper, however, I got carried away working on the full version (SOUL) and only after a few months I returned to this idea, I still wanted to make a 3d game, but I also wanted to see if I could realize my idea in 2d, so in parallel I started making the 2d version (Ladder Up) and I made the first version of the game using the constructor (Clickteam Fusion 2.5). While working on this version, I started testing the first version of the plot. (The picture below shows what (Ladder Up) looked like on the (Clickteam Fusion) constructor):

After the version on (Clickteam Fusion 2.5) was ready, I started making a 2d version on (Unity). When I made the 2d version of the game on (Unity), I liked the result and decided to do 2d instead of 3d and continued to think about the game further (If anything, in the early version on (Clickteam Fusion 2.5) the whole game was ready according to the old scenario, and on (Unity) I made only the first level) It was in January 2024, I decide to do (Ladder Up) in 2d (It's just that at that time I was just starting to study 3d modeling and realized that I could delay the game, and since October 2024 I had to postpone modeling due to my diploma and driver's license studies) Here are a few concepts of the game:

In February 2024 year, the first version on (Unity) was damaged and I had to redo everything I had done in this version from scratch. In the flesh, before the release, nothing terrible happened to the game anymore, I continued to work on it and add more and more ideas to it that I came up with and considered a good solution. This is the end of the development story.

The 2nd episode will be released on September 15th.
