Story Time

Story time…

What is the hardest part about making something? Starting that something. Years ago, I was lost in this new world called high school. One day, I followed some year 9 friends I knew, to A12… and I basically have never left. Over the last 5 years, I self-taught myself how to do coding, draw pixel art and how to make a good game. My first games were not something you would consider amazing and I knew it. But I didn’t want to push myself. That was until one day, when a certain Mr Stewart arrived at school with his one word… MORE! “Hey Sir, I have made this cool new game mechanic and it…” “MORE!”. “Look I made a working weather system, with rain and thunder!” “MORE!”. With him pushing me out of my comfort zone, I quickly learnt new skills and abilities. The biggest being how to take criticism and use it to improve my project. Before long, A12 become an important room for me to experiment and bug test my game by having students play it. So, the next step was to make an amazing game. After 5 failed games and competitions, I realised I needed to be innovative and make something new! And then I had it. Use games to allow people to experience what it is like to live with Autism. On that day, An Aspie Life was born. After 8 months, 600 Sprites, 2000 individual images, 25,070 lines or 574,053 characters and 23 sounds/music the game was ready to face the world. I entered it into as many IT competitions as possible… And now An Aspie Life has won the Queensland Young ICT Explorers 11-12 category, the Queensland iAwards Senior Students category and the National The iAwards Senior Students category. I guess this is the start of EnderLost Studios. So, Sir, is this MORE than enough?
