I've been mostly sticking to teasers recently, but I would still like to make some larger posts every now and then to clarify things or announce things.
Here, I would like to talk about my goals for this game and my plans on releasing content as the game grows.
Strange Journey Log
So, what even is "Strange Journey Log"? Strange Journey Log is a FNaF fangame that I created in January of 2023, originally named Fazbear's Journey Log, but was quickly discontinued so that I could work on Baldi's Schoolhouse Chaos instead.
Late October, 2024, I made a post announcing that I was coding something new. I then followed it up by starting to release teasers and updates on Strange Journey Log as it was developed.
But what is the game about? Strange Journey Log is a FNaF fangame that plans to feature multiple games packed into one. The games will each have their own characters, mechanics, locations and more.
Currently, there are two sections featured in the game: Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria (FNaF 1), and Baldi's Schoolhouse (Baldi's Basics Plus). My next planned location for the game is Treasure Island (FNaTI).
The game is split into two main gamemodes: Map (challenges) and Campaign. The campaign is the primary gamemode, including a chapter for each location in the game, and every chapter includes 7 levels for that location, as well as some secret levels!
The other gamemode, Map, includes 5 challenges for each location, as well as a custom level for each location. The custom level needs no explanation- It is the custom night feature of this game, and is only not called custom night because I'm currently unsure whether every location will be set at night time.
Content Goals
There are some personal requirements I put on myself before being viable to release the game. I would like to revamp practically every element of the game before release, which I am already in progress of doing.
I also aim to have at least 5 locations in the game, however if Turbowarp starts to self destruct from the pressure of holding a .sb3 of over a gigabyte, then I may have to cut it shorter.
Every location needs to have a MINIMUM of 10 characters, each with their own mechanics, models, sound effects and such. I made the custom level layout display a total of 20 characters possible for each location, so I may stretch it out to reach that amount if I feel like it.
The Team?
There is a problem with making my most ambitious game ever... I am making it by myself. Now, this does not mean that there aren't others helping to make the game as good as it can be, of course. Thanks to @TestDavid for helping with the game's soundtrack and voice acting, as well as IDunnoWhatI'mDoing for voice acting. Also thanks to @xxxSLMxxx for suggesting that I add the desk fan as a character in the game. These credits may grow in the future, I'm sure they will! Especially as I add more locations to the game, it will make more voice acting opportunities open up!
GOALS AND REWARDS
Alright, alright. That's enough explaining about the game, now I would like to explain the goals and rewards. By this, I refer to the goals as the amount of followers I hope to accumulate, and I refer to the rewards as the content I will reveal for reaching said goals.
The first big goal, and I hope to reach it soon. This month has been a parade for Strange journey Log, as double digit amounts of people have followed the game. It isn't earthshaking numbers, but it is the most I've ever gotten on one of my game jolt games, passing ONAG1:R which is at 14 followers.
The reward if we reach this goal? I'm not quite sure. I *might* try to prepare a demo for this occasion, although I believe the current amount of content in the game is too much for a demo, so I'll have to make some areas of the game inaccessible in the demo.
This goal would be enough dopamine for me to continue developing this game until it becomes too large to store on my computer (joke). 50 Followers may sound like little to some, but to me it's a grand number of followers- especially for a Scratch/Turbowarp game.
The reward? A trailer for the game! This would help to really push the game further if it was already at 50 followers, and maybe even help it reach the next goal quicker? Who knows, we'll just have to wait and see
100 Followers
My expectations of reaching this goal will have to be lifted by first managing to even reach the other goals, but I will stay determined.
The reward? The full game! This goal may never happen, I'm aware. And if it doesn't, then I'll have to eventually release the full game anyways. Of course if I reach this goal, I won't just release the full game straight away! I'll finish it and polish it first, but if I don't have the goal by the time I'm finished with the game, I'll likely continue adding content until I can't anymore, or the goal is reached!
Conclusion
I just want to say, this game is incredibly ambitious. I mentioned this earlier, but it's true. I want it to include several main game features, different locations, characters, soundtracks and all that sorta stuff, and it's made on Turbowarp!
School is about to start up again, and that is going to drastically slow down the game's development, so that's why I've been sweating my ass off trying to build as much as I can these holidays, and with a 3 week break due to going to Japan, I wasn't able to finish the game in just these holidays.
I wanted to end this by saying that, if you're interested in the game or want to support a fellow dev, drop a follow! And get ready for the ride, because this is going to be one Strange Journey... Log. I did not just say that...
Enjoy!
