Style Challenges

For an artist who usually specializes in creepy demon characters and monsters, discovering how to successfully create cute graphics was extremely challenging. There were many iterations of Coco that were just plain creepy and off putting before I finally getting something that was cute. Also the whole vectoring process was something new to my work flow as well. For the most part I have treated photoshop as a traditional painting program in which I did not use tools like the pen tool and blending options with layers because my previous work did not require these types of elements. I would simply treat the document as a blank canvas, and any type of texture or effect would be created by painting.

Because of this, learning how to use the pen tool was definitely different for me but also a welcomed challenge because I got to learn a new process and increased my skill level at the same time. Like everything though, there is still room for improvement and I look forward to getting better at this skill for our future work.
