I made a lot of progress this last week, and it's mostly down to making it look nice at this point. Every character now has their own notepaper (as shown), even the bad guys. Violet or the Ghola Queen might even brighten your day by sending you a nasty note now and again - thanks goes to @sosku10 for that idea.
Now at work on the avatars. There's 21 of them (16 girls plus four Gholas and Violet after revealed) so that should keep me busy. I can only draw them in my cartoon style of course (as pictured), but I've put functionality for custom avatar sets, so if the game does well I can commission artists to make alternate images for the girls in different styles (maybe an anime set that kind of thing) then sell them as DLC on the Play Store for something like a dollar a set. Obviously I want to make some money on there, but I feel this is the kind of game that would be really ruined by an advert turning up in the middle of the game. A total atmosphere destroyer! So I intend to only run one ad per game, and then only when the game is finished.
DLC won't help win the game any, it'll be purely optional/cosmetic and two avatar sets will be included - the default set and a pony set as tribute to the original.
I'm hoping there will also be an HTML5 version you can play here on Gamejolt with no ads at all! We'll see how that pans out.
Another thing to mention is that unlike Slaughter Horse where all the ponies were generated randomly, the girl's names and avatars will stay the same. Sarah the blue-haired girl will always be Sarah. What changes is their role. I enjoyed the random pony names, but I also think it'll be interesting have more defined characters. I've gotten quite attached to some of them, so it's an especial blow when they turn out to be a nasty little backstabbing Ghola.
It's alway risky to make these kind of predictions but I'm now pretty sure the game's first build will be up on the Play Store before September ends (wake me up when that happens).
