Taking a step back from my early game idea

Initially I was going to create a “missile defence” game in which you walk around a planet and defend it from missiles and asteroids hell bent on destroying you and your happy little planet.

But as I went and started to try to implement ideas I realized I was JUST outside my abilities. Programming asteroids AND missiles to fall to the earth is difficult enough, but to create a method to do that randomly where the player is at AND on the other side of the planet, with enough time to get there is beyond my grasp. Not to mention having a minimap alert you to the existance of these threats on the other side of the planet.

So in my step back I’m going to simplify it to a static screen. That’s about the only change I need to make. Most of my issues were with the movement of the planet and randomizing falling things.

In this case they’re going to be in one place (still need to be randomized though) and the player is going to be static. All that needs to be done is program the collision code and make the game difficult!

Well good art and music too. So maybe I have a little further to go than I was hoping. But in this simplified state I’m really hoping that I can finish this project. That would go a long ways in helping me create and finish the next one and the one after that.

What you all think

A house I've built a while ago. :)

It nicely separates the snowy biome from the grassy one.

It's built with painted Ebonstone.

Call it 'wrong turn'!🚫 The feeling of running into a house with only one exit🚪, and being doomed to die. #pixelart #pixelartist #pixelartwork #art #pixel #indiegame #IndieGameDev #indieartist

I worked so hard to get all four of them to the end safely, but then...

Very ambitious construction going on in Planet Zoo on Plays today. We're tryin'. LIVE: www.twitch.tv/dreamhackplays

I mostly build 3D First Person Shooter game mechanics in Unity, and in this I'm just showing C4 mechanics I made for a little side project I am working on! :)

Here's a Fredbear sprite i made in Aseprite! I'm pretty proud of this!

(Btw, sorry for the double post! I'll try to post less)
