The InBetween Demo version 3.0.0 is Here!

Hello everyone. It's been a while.

I sorta forgot I had a build of The InBetween here in the first place, and it needed a lot of updates, instead of just simply focusing on the Steam and Itch demo, especially for the people who enjoyed it here.

Which is why I've decided to release the latest Steam demo here as well. So, what's new?

  • The demo is bigger now. Like A LOT Bigger. An extra zone to explore with more enemies and bosses to beat.

  • Another Shrine to overcome and gain an ability from, The Trigger Shrine.

  • Another zone, The Forsaken Village is also here, well... a bit of it with its own vibes.

  • The game has more concrete endings. There are the 3 major endings: Pacifist, Genocide and Neutral. Along with the other shorter endings (I won't say which though ;D )

  • The game also has a handful of Achievements, that will be automatically synced with the Steam version should you choose to install the Steam version later.

  • LOTS of bug fixes, starting with the way Pipit shoots. No need to spam the shoot button, just press and hold to rapid fire. Less stress when firing and more leeway to dodge. :D

  • The dash has also been tweaked, allowing players to dash on slopes, and unlock even more cool ways to dash and dodge enemies like a Smooth Criminal (Yes, you can technically moonwalk here ;D)

Now for the other, other news....
The previous build featured a double demo consisting of an action demo, like a level selection or boss rush, and a story demo that just featured the game's prologue with not much combat.

However, as the game increased in its scale and as people mostly focused on the Story mode first, I've decided to get rid of it. (If you can mod the game, it's still there.)

The game also has Japanese language options for our friends in the East, with hopefully more languages coming soon. :D

Now for the last bit of information...

......

I'm moving on. Not from the game, but from the demo.

I pushed past my limits and accidentally made a really large game for a demo (That's like 30% of the full game in there!). However, it has been taking too much of my time, and the game's in its third year of development.

Which is why this will be the last major update to the game's demo. A farewell build.

There will be occasional updates made to the game to fix some bugs and whatnot. But all my energy would be directed towards making The InBetween the best version it can be.

So that is all, version 3.0.0 is live. And I really hope you enjoy it. Your feedback and ratings are also very valuable.

Thank you.

Made some progress, got rid of those early pesky bugs, added touch controls for mobile ;). Expect an early build soon, if you're interested. :D #theinbetween #ti #gamedev #solodev #undertale #metroid

Going Wild with Emojis :) What're your thoughts on the use of emojis in video games? #ti #theinbetween #solodev #thoughts

So...... Out of curiosity, I wondered... "Hey, the game's inspired by Undertale, right? So why not use one of Toby Fox's songs to see how much it rhymes."😅 p.s - I do NOT want to get sued, so I'd definitely change it back to its original song.😉

Happy #WIPWednesday!

My three favorite games are Metroid Fusion, Undertale and Iconoclasts. These three games are a huge source of inspiration for my latest game; an Undervania called The InBetween. :) #NationalVideoGamesDay

Finally back to animating the NPCs in the village. Here's a random conversation. But hmm..... that sign... how come only Pipit can read it? Is he even the one reading the sign?! And who's Tovia T. Sappot? And how did that person know about the timer!?!

Finally gotten some of that game feel. Up next, sound effects! and more combat! #theinbetween #ti
