In a time long ago(about 4 years ago) a log was created to float atop a body of water.
This log acted as a platform that reacted to the player, bobbing down when landed on and tilting to mimic the player's weight.
Little did we know at the time, this log would turn out to be one of the most troublesome things in Eldritchvania's development!
Throughout every play test someone has managed to do something wacky with this damn floating log!
Some things that happened over the years:
Players fazed through the log entirely
Players got stuck inside of the log
Players made the log disappear from reality entirely
The entire game would freeze by landing just right on the corner of the log
The entire game would freeze by swimming up into the log from bellow.
All of these problems were worked on and thought fixed each time but people kept managing to find new ways to break it.
It has truly been one of the most villainous things in the entire game as far as sheer amount of bugs are concerned.
I'm proud to announce that I've finally fixed this damn log! I think...
As we're now in polish mode and one of our play testers managed to break the log again the other day I threw in the towel and re-coded the log from scratch.
Its coded simpler, uses new methods to function, is more accurate and so far we have not managed to find a way to break it again.
This should not be considered a challenge!
This is just another tale in the troublesome but satisfying hell-scape that is game development.
