The slow road to DEMO 1 has started! New Maps, Story, Features


Hey, it’s afanguy here!

So, I have started working on DEMO 1 recently and I would love to share some details about it with you guys.


About DEMO 1

The most important change is that the game will officially release on GameJolt once DEMO 1 is finished.

Since the game will have left the BETA state then, there will not be any need to contact each individual player anymore.

You are still welcome in the Discord server to meet other players, get the latest news, request some skins for the game and contact admins.


New Maps

Another important change is that there will be new maps.

When you begin a new game, the map will probably seem familiar to you.

You might’ve also noted at this point, that you cannot see other players, your own name, chat or use your cell phone, but don’t worry, this will last for a few rooms only.

In the next room, you will meet Flowey, as you would in the original game. He will explain some parts of the game’s story to you.

A few rooms later, you will notice that some things are different from the original game, as you cannot progress on the same way you would in Undertale.

The switch is broken, the door won’t open and the buttons are gone. However, there will be a new passageway, which leads you to a part of the ruins that was unaccessable in Undertale.

In the next room, you will find a sparkling object, that will augment your senses and allow you to see, hear and talk to other versions of yourself from other timelines, which starts the part of the game that is “online”.

You will not have access to skins, pvp and other features right away though. You will have to make some progress first before you can unlock these features.


New Gameplay Elements

Now, let’s talk about gameplay elements and features.

A fan-favorite, pvp-combat, might be in DEMO 1, however I cannot say for sure, as the multiplayer has already screwed with other parts of the code.

I have, however, started working on it and players will be able to gain gold. You will also be able to spare an enemy, if you don’t wish to fight back. Since attacks are limited to MP (Magic Points), players will be forced to spare the other player, if they don’t have any MP left and can’t restore them. That way, PvP battles can be ended peacefully, allowing you to continue a pacifist-run like normal. However, killing in PvP does affect the main-game. It counts as a kill. So, instead of killing 20 monsters in the ruins to trigger the “but nobody came”-scene, you can just kill 20 other players in pvp. However, if the player you’re fighting is at least 5 lv higher than you, it will not count as a kill. Defeating a player that meets such standards will be rewarded, as it is basically an act of justice, considering that they are killers, which is not rewarded. It sounds complicated, but it’s basically what Sans does in the game. If you’re not on genocide, you may live, but if you are, you are the bad person and therefore killing you is reasonable. That’s basically the idea behind it.

Another feature will be trading.

Players will be able to trade health-restoring items for other items or gold.
This way, players can help out other players by donating them some gold or can get some gold out of items they don’t want to use.


The game will also have the option to toggle chat-messages and only show those of certain people.


Certain YouTubers and RickyG will also have special colored names. Some NPCs will even have new dialogue, so I would recommend you to use the same accounts you used for DF.


Another new feature will be the hub world.

The hub world can be accessed from your phone. It serves as a place for players to meet, compete, trade and have fun in, whilst also allowing for a quick way to travel to place you’ve visited before.


The game will also include a handful of minigames, based on popular minigames such as Prop Hunt and TTT. Killing in a minigame does not affect the main game in any way.


Now, while most skins are available to the player from the moment they can use the skin-function, certain skins will be locked.

The skins that are locked are:

  • Sans

  • Underswap Papyrus

  • All skins that are unrelated to Undertale (with the exception of Underswap Sans).

How does one unlock them?

Well, the unrelated skins are the easiest to unlock.
There are a few pages of skins under the “others” section.
Some characters from these pages will be hidden around the maps.
You can fight them and if you spare/slay them you will unlock the page where the skin can be found on. Some pages have multiple characters around the game’s world, which makes unlocking them easier.

As for Sans and Underswap Papyrus, you will have to complete certain tasks to unlock these, as they are fairly strong in PvP.


An achievement system is also planned.

Completing an achievement rewards you with either gold, items or special skins.

Achievements will not require you to kill anybody.


Release Date(?)

There is no planned release date yet, but I will try my best to get this game out ASAP without screwing it up.

just added an anti-latency mechanic for pvp where the enemy's soul will be moved on your screen based on ping to keep it synced even with delay. still needs in-depth testing, but i'm hoping that'll make pvp against high ping users more bearable
