Siblings Redemption: The Last Promise

The Update of Dread, version 1.2, is finally here!

Hey there, everyone. It's Sil again.

First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who had downloaded the game to play it, even if you didn't like it. My intentions with this game were meant to be unique, while also giving a nod to those that have inspired me, but hey, you cannot please everyone.

Version 1.2 has been in the works ever since the cherry lord, Merg himself, had played the game. Before that, I thought that updating this game would be futile, even though it had been something I contemplated for a while after I released version 1.1.

But now, thanks to all of you, it's here. And hopefully in a better state than before. Now let's go over the changes!

  • Flowey is now buffed in Phase 1, he does a lot more now and gets more involved with the attacks. In addition, some of Chara's attacks have been buffed as well.

  • Phase 2 now has the chance to be a BIG SHOT! That's right, the ability to do Big Shots has been added to the game. No longer do you have to spam your Z and Enter keys in order to will down... oh, right. I know a lot of you thought that shooting was useless, but now you have a good reason to keep firing!

    • And yes, the same thing works in Phase 7 now.

  • Phase 3 has another path included. Though choose wisely, you cannot do both at the same time anymore.

  • Phase 4 has now been overhauled to show a more devilish style to progression. There are now "sub-phases", which include new attacks never seen before!

  • Phase 5's platform attack has been nerfed slightly, but other than that, it pretty much stays the same.

  • Phase 6 has had a visual change, but again, it stays the same.

  • Phase 7 now has CHECKPOINTS! These checkpoints aren't too generous, but they do keep your progress between deaths. Be careful though, if you go back to the main menu after dying, you will have to do it all over again. This was also added to combat the new difficulty spike, which was created to make this phase less boring. Have fun doing no hit, lol

  • Visuals have been changed throughout all the phases.

Now, onto the QoL stuff:

  • There's now a SPEEDRUN MODE! There is no public leaderboard for the game (yet!), but now you can time yourself throughout the course of the game, whether that be just one phase, or all of them in a row!

  • It's now possible to do all 7 phases in a single run, Phase 4 now transitions straight to Phase 5 instead of taking you back to the menu.

  • You can now change your name. Not sure why you'd want to do this, but the option is there.

  • Hall Of Fame has been added to the Achievements book, along with any challenges you may have done for phases 5 through 7. This showcases four notable YouTubers:

    • TheDragonFox, for his video exploding in popularity and drove more people to the game. MAJOR shoutout to him.

    • Divine Lee, for reacting to said video and showing general support for the game.

    • MOROZ, for doing a NO HIT on every individual phase. I would've loved to include SANS from BiliBili as well, but I couldn't get a hold of their profile picture... oh well.

    • And of course, Merg, for playing the game. It has been a dream of mine to have an idol who inspired me admire some of my work. So the biggest shoutout goes to him in this case.

  • JOURNAL has been added, though you can only read it after beating Phase 4 for the first time.

  • Finally, a lot of you were complaining about the copyright claims from the music, so I've decided to make the music files viewable so you can change it to whatever you like! But beware of overlapping...

    • You cannot do this with Phase 7, due to multiple music files being used for different parts of that phase. Sorry.

And so there you have it. Unless I can think of something major that would be worthy of another update, this is the last big update to the game. If you're interested, you can follow some of my other stuff. I have other projects in the works right now, one of which will be my first ever full game... well, one that doesn't end up becoming something I take over for myself anyway.

Thanks once again to all of you, and...

...oh, hold up one minute. I forgot to mention that Siblings Redemption has over 800,000 collective views at the time of this post! That's the most I've ever gotten out of any game that I had created.

Genocide Asgore Remake, which isn't even an original work of mine, only has about 700,000, which is still good but it doesn't even compare, as that was collected over the course of 2 years, while Siblings Redemption caught this much attention in its first year... most of it within the last 2 months alone!

Anyway, once again, thanks to all of you who have played the game and supported throughout the development of it. I look forward to making bigger and better projects in the future! Perhaps even something that you can create with yourself...
