Cheers!
With this post, I conclude the final stage of this project, the transition from beta to final GameJolt release.
I had been working on Daily Chthonicle for just around one year, with several smaller and larger pauses in between, and that culminated in a 24/7 crunch of the last three months. Now that the work is done, I am quite pleased with it :)
Not to say there aren’t still bugs, quirks or crickets to be found. Even more could be said about all the possibilities of improvement, upgrades, additional content, new rules etc etc. But in terms of basic features and definition, this project is now 100% complete.
Most of the quirks that can be found are within either the storyteller or the grammar module, which is natural because those are fairly new and untested ‘inventions’. The storyteller does not use regular linear templates, it is a tiny artificial intelligence designed to create narrative. So it can still be somewhat… eccentric at times. Also fact is that the entire database is actually early learning data. I never had the time to rewrite it. It is a tiny bit of information and as I slowly add to it, the intricacy of the stories and the narrative will exponentially improve.
Anyway, not to bore everyone with theory, just a quick list of all the new features that were added since beta release on friday:
Sounds
Tutorial (Easy difficulty only)
Rebalancing of all difficulty levels
A bunch of tiny things, mostly GUI and ergonomy related
And… that’s all for tonight ^.^
Thanks for watching and have fun!
