This is true for most background characters, but for this specifically I’m focusing on Stacy.

So everyone remembers Stacy’s role, inspiring Mei and her friends to hustle the panda for cash. We see her texting all the other students, letting them be aware of the red panda, and even being seen taking a photo, and buying merch.

However, her appearance doesn’t end here. In fact, it doesn’t begin here either, and I am not referring to the comedic bathroom scene when I say this. As early as the intro sequence for the movie, Stacy can be seen in the background amongst the different students. She is later visible during the dodgeball scene before it is properly established she is there with her friends. Even at Tyler’s party, she is visible as one of the many guests, appearing a total of at least three times. And finally, she can be visible during the 4-Town concert, during the stadium ritual. Despite being a minor side character, the creators put lots of thought into her appearances, even going as far as to have given her a name, which wasn’t necessary. This attention to detail is not exclusive to Stacy either, as many other side characters, student or otherwise, voice acted or not, appear multiple times as well. See if you can spot as many as you can in the background when you watch the film again.

Oh, and the blue patch on her arm is a diabetic patch, used to cover up where blood pressure is taken. This actually explains what she is doing in the bathroom twice, without actually having a need to go to the bathroom.

During the scene where Mei and her friends are found by Stacy, when Mei pops her head over the stall door, an etching can be seen saying “wassup?” This is, of course, a goofy little play on how it’s the first time during that scene they’d see Panda Mei.

I have extensive trivia on the actions of Red Panda Mei in the movie, and more importantly how similar it is to the real red pandas’ behaviors.

New Fun Fuzzy Fact!

The red moon happened today, approximately 6 hours ago. The shade of red was not as vibrant as shown in the movie, but still quite impressive. So far, no gods to grant red panda spirits yet.
