UNDERSWAP: ECHOED - 2023 October Devlog

That's right!! Today marks the first day I've started working on this project. I'm aware the game page was made on June 17 in 2021, but I actually started working on the project in 2020, sort of. That was wayy different from what I've been posting here, but it was still "PC!Underswap" back then.

But anyway, I guess I'd say progress is and has been going pretty well. This devlog might be sort of small, but it'll include some very new cool things we've been working on.

Keep in mind that not everything in this devlog is final, and may or may not be changed in the future. Feedback and criticism are pretty cool, so if you have any, feel free to comment.

LAST DEVLOG...

We changed the name of the take from PC!UNDERSWAP, to UNDERSWAP: ECHOED, and completely revamped our first area, The Gardens. Sprites, music, writing, etc. have changed greatly. If you haven't seen it, feel free to check it out! UNDERSWAP: ECHOED - 2023 JUNE DEVLOG - Undergoing big changes.

CODING

Coding has been going really well, aside from procrastinating every now and then. New and revamped rooms have been and are being worked on, and the main menu has been through some big changes. For example, the settings menu.

To give a bit of info on how the settings menu works: The settings menu will consist of four sections (Main options, Extras, Key configuration, and Gamepad configuration), which include various options and things. It's uh, kinda big, but I think it works.

There hasn't been much progress on random encounters, but I have got some small things done. Not anything too major, unfortunately.

Some parts of the script have changed either greatly or just a bit, so cutscenes and dialogue are being changed. and some stuff regarding these two is still being worked on. I won't go into the details at the moment though, cause I don't really wanna spoil much. Still got a bunch to do.

SPRITES

Since the last devlog, a bunch of sprites have been remade and changed to fit the new style.

Temmie and Asgore's sprites have gone through some changes. The main reason Temmie was changed is cause they didn't exactly look "Temmie" enough, if that makes sense.

The starting area's also been changed some. The tileset was pretty outdated and it didn't exactly fit with the new sprites. This might be changed some more, but here's how it looks for now.

MUSIC !?

Usually, when I'd add a music section to a devlog, it wouldn't actually include any music. This time, though, it will!!

It's only one track for now, but there'll be more at some point.

This is the "Fallen Down" replacement for the fangame! I know we haven't even released the tracks that come before this one yet, but posting everything in order isn't really that necessary anyway. Plus, nothing music-related has been shown in a while.

Yeah, sorry, this is kind of a short devlog. There's not exactly anything too big to show right now. There might be a little more in the next devlog, though. Maybe. Maybe not.

We aren't even halfway done with the demo just yet, so don't expect any releases anytime soon. We're getting there though. Things are happening, a little slowly but surely.

With that being said, I guess this is the end of the devlog.

Happy eighth Undertale anniversary!

Probably would've made a devlog for the occasion, but I couldn't exactly make it in time, and there isn't really anything too major to show or talk about right now, anyway. Progress is going okay, though.
