* Greetings.
Welcome to the first newsletter for UNDERTALE: AFTER GENOCIDE. We have come a long way, and are making steady progress with the development of our fangame. We want to keep you guys informed on the development of our fangame, so we will be posting occasional devlogs, sneak peaks, and other cool things, so keep an eye out for those. For now, we would like to share the status of our game, and show off some of what we are working on.
(Side note; There is much more that we are working on behind the scenes. Some of that stuff is spoilers, however, so we will not be showing that off. This will be the standard for most of our newsletters going forward from this point, only showing non-spoiler material/)
Storyline progress
We are making good work on finishing up the main story for our game. While there are still hurdles that we need to jump over, we pretty much have <90% of our script done! While we have wanted to get it done sooner, there have been some obstacles that have slowed us down. We are making steady progress, and are set to get our main script finished by the end of this month if things go to plan.
All of the main areas are decided. All of the main characters are decided.
Speaking of, our game is set to have two main routes, similar to UNDERTALE. While we don’t have any official name for them, you can guess what they would be, considering the fact that this game is similar to UNDERTALE…
Music progress
This is what our team is most excited about. In our team, three of the members have been working hard to make tracks for the game, but we are still deciding which ones would be fit for the game. You can check out some of the songs for our game in the MUSIC section of the GAMEJOLT page! All the songs listed are subject to change, so please don’t be shocked if a song that you listen to today is not the same as the one used in the final version.
Graphic process
This category encompasses a few different things; art, level design, and other visuals.
Right now, we only have one person on our team working on the artistic direction of the game. It has only been him (as well as temporarily ‘borrowing’ assets from UT and DR) at work with the graphics of the game. You can see some of his work on the GAMEJOLT page as well!
Difficulties
As Toby said himself, game development sure is tiring! We have never had experience with using GameMaker, so it is a learning experience for all of us. Luckily, we have been learning GameMaker steadily, so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue in the future. There are some segments we want to add, which would take extra development time, but we think it would be worth it so we will add it.
What you can expect from us
We don’t expect this game to be done for a while, as we all have been busy with responsibilities such as school, so we haven’t been able to devote 100% of ourselves to working on this game. We have been steadily pushing forward on development, however, and we hope to pick up the pace and get this game to be the best it can be.
Conclusion
We thank you for showcasing your interest in this project, and we hope to deliver the best quality project we can. It will take us a while, as we have never done this before, but we hope that it will be the best work that we can put forward.
