Today is finally time to share some of the thoughts about the patch 0.4, one of the biggest design changes on Clash of Waifus.
Removed Mechanics
What was removed from the game:
Gacha system to get new Waifus
Waifu's levels
XP items and Boosters
Waifu's passive
PVE mode
Undoubtedly, gacha is an extremely predatory mechanic that benefits the player in absolutely nothing. It just creates a very bad experience for unlucky players. So it was removed.
The level mechanic had a goal of adding a certain grind to the game. But it made life very hard for new players to duel with more experienced ones, besides complicating the balace of the game. So it was removed.
Each Waifu's passive will be replaced by a new mechanic. (More info soon)
The PVE mode was created as a way to have fun even playing alone. But it quickly became boring, with the only purpose of farming as much as possible. And now that there is no need to farm, it has been replaced.
New Mechanics
What has been added in the game:
Waifus Market
Keywords
vs AI
Now, to acquire a Waifu, just save enough Gold and buy it on the market. Simple as that. (Amounts not yet estimated)
Waifus may have keywords, each one with its fixed effect. The goal is to create synergies between Waifus and increase the number of strategies when building teams.
Vs AI mode will replace PVE. It will be possible to duel against the bot, being possible to choose its difficulty and gain some gold.
Attack and Defense turns
Each turn, players will alternate between attack and defense. When the player is on the attack turn, he can choose to use a skill of the attack class or make a substitution. Regardless of the attacking player's choice, the defending player will be able to respond using a skill of the defense class. After players both actions, the turn ends and players alternate their roles.
This change focus on the advantage second player had over the first one, as it was possible to react in time to the choice the first player made.
These are some of the ideas for the next patch. Part 2 of this sneaky peek will be posted soon. Feel free to comment on this post. Feedback is always welcome. See you next time!
