So some thought has been put into the feautures of Rive. The original vision was to create an island economy - an island with food, animals and people. This simulation of tribe formation and competion for resources would take place independent of human interaction. However, it is meant to be a game so a player could easily be thrown into the mix to affect the island in the way he or she pleases.
That is what Rive is. The formerly described game concepts are truely meant for a different game entirely. It would be unjust to completely change a game’s concept in front of its followers. That is why the game profile has been updated to reflect what Rive was, and what it always will be.
There will be two game modes: Single player survival, and Multiplayer Skirmish.
The survival mode is self-explanatory, however the skirmish is explained in detail below:
Multiplayer Skirmish:
This game mode is essentially a real-time strategy where you are in the action.
A minimum of one opponent and yourself will spawn on opposite sides of the island
You will start with a treasure and some building material. Your priority is to protect that treasure from your opponent.
Throughout the island will be the regular resources, and animals. But, there will also be independent characters roaming the map. If you can offer them a gift, they will join your side. These essentially become your henchmen. They can do anything from collecting resources on their own, to fighting battles.
Platform barriers you build to protect your treasure are destructible.
As a tribe leader, you will be able to unlock several skills.
Simply, the player who captures the other’s treasure first, wins.
Thank you for staying with us. We do still plan on running a Kickstarter campaign to enhance graphics, sound, and to get the multiplayer running.
Thanks,
