Update: Basic blockout finished, and what I'm working on next...

Well it only took me 2 weeks to get from this:

To this:

Which is pretty good going! I now have a basic blockout of all five floors of the manor house, and I've spent the last few days fiddling with the navmesh and my Monica can walk up and down stairs and into every room on every floor.

I have also spaced out the NPC characters (the yellow capsules in the second image) into the rooms the player will find them in. Next task is to take some time walking around, working out travel times, and adjusting the player walk speed and turn speed if need be.

Now I'm planning what other tasks I need to do in the next couple of weeks, and I'm thinking maybe a front end menu (which will just be a special page of the journal), adding spawn points so that the player can 'fast travel' between rooms if they need to (but I need to make the map for that first), but I also need to do more work on the blockout in terms of hiding walls blocking the view of Monica, which is a huge task on its' own.

But otherwise, happy with how it's going so far :)

Tony.

DUNGEON PATHS September updates! #gamedev #indiegamedev #unity3d

My last few months of work...

August #gamedev update 01 - in-game UI setup!

Just roughly blocking out the start area of the game as a test piece for both the level design and game design parts of the process.

This is the first room, with three ways forward. Now, why would that be... hmm :)

Well hello!

This is the first devlog for Demon Detective, and I'll be doing a (usually) weekly article to let you know about my progress.

But for now "Hi!" and I'll see you around :)

I have added rewards for quests so that villagers can give you something in return for your hard work helping them. 🥳

I want to know - what's your favourite quest reward?

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
