Hey everyone!
It’s been a while since my last update, hasn’t it?
Reading the comments I know you guys are eagerly awaiting for the game to come out(or so I hope) and I apologize for taking so long.
I’m kinda slow at this and on top of that I have a bad habit of remaking assets when they seem to not be up to my sky-high standards.
I’m sorry, I hate it as much as the next guy but that’s just how I do things, I guess.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get right on to what’s actually important.
The UPDATES!
The art
The most time-consuming part of making this game by far is the graphics.
One thing that’s always been in my mind while making the game is having art that’s consistently good from start to finish.
These last couple of years I’ve been practicing and improving while working on the game and I’m starting to reach a level where I can feel satisfied with what I’ve made.
The writing
Not being a native english speaker I some time ago discovered the weak writing I used on the second demo(RIP), for this reason I’ve been investing
a little bit in the writing department. This story isn’t too complicated and a little extra character development and world building has never hurt anyone.
Until It Did!
The gameplay
A mechanic that’s implemented in the game is the “Hitogata” Mechanic, Hitogata are human-shaped wooden effigies. When hit instead of dying, an effigy will take the hit for you, stunning whatever tried to kill you for a few seconds giving you some time to escape. Of course these will be scarce so as to not make the game too easy and to make it easier for those who want to see all the death animations.
Hitogata only work on small ghost or demon-esque entities btw.
Special animation for ledge walking.
As I’ve said before, nothing you see before the final release is final.
Concluding
That’s all the updates without spoiling much. There’re other things I’ve made but those are animated, I can’t show them with still images and recording video of gameplay to make gifs is kinda tedious for me at the moment.
Thank you guys for the never-ending support you’ve given me throughout development, here’s hoping I’ll be able to repay it fully someday.
P.S. The Q&A is still a thing BTW.
While I was making it I realized making a q&a without a demo would have been an awkward idea for those who didn’t play the second demo and didn’t know anything about the game or it’s characters so I decided to release it after at least the demo is out.
