So, as you all may know, I am VERY slow at getting this game released. There are some notes that I have come across development which I have taken into consideration as I go ahead and continue working, and I figured I should share them with you:
There will be a title change coming in the near future as soon as I draw new art to put as the thumbnail. The new title will be “Reclaim”, I believe. I’ve been thinking about it a lot, and I enjoy one word titles.
The length of the game is turning out to be way longer than I had originally anticipated, and I continue to add new points and rework some of the ideas I had when I first started this. I have done a runthrough from the beginning to the end of what I have finished, and right now it is almost 20 minutes in length. I am hoping it will be no longer than an hour total, but as you can imagine, since I am constructing all of the maps in photoshop, it is taking me much longer to create this than someone who would be doing it solely in RPG maker. At this point in time, I have run into a story blip, and I am trying to go back through and log the dialogue and the small interactions as a script and am going to continue like that so that I have the whole thing written down in paper instead of trying to go through and write the story as I lay the actions on the map. I am hoping that this will make development go much faster.
Story update… Yes, as I had mentioned previously, there will be major changes to the story line, and hopefully these changes will make the story flow better and it will make more sense in the final workup. I am not sure how much I will be adding, but I know I want to go ahead and change some points around. I don’t know how I want to construct some of the story right now, so I am trying to work around that as we speak.
Art…….. I am an avid animator and artist, and I am drawing out a lot of dialogue scenes that are going to be in the final ending part of the game mostly. There are about 15 I need to do that I can think of right now. This is also what is taking a lot of time.
PLEASE NOTE: I am a full time college student trying to produce this game completely on my own. I do all of the art, writing, concept, and programming, completely by myself. I have no outside help for this project, it is something that I have taken on by my own accord and will continue to work as hard as I can to develop this. Not only am I a normal college student, but I am a film major, which means I am constantly on film sets and making movies. I am about to set off to produce a documentary in the upcoming months, and am not sure how much time I will have to work on this at that time. I hope that you understand how much work this is on top of the regular work that I have to do, and that you will continue to wait patiently while I slowly begin to piece this together. I promise I have not given up on it, but I will not have daily free time to sit down and work on this relentlessly.
I hope that the final outcome of this game is worth the wait, and I would like to apologize again. I wanted to type this out to not excuse my tardiness in releasing this, but to hopefully give an insight into why it is taking me so long, and so that you all are not in the dark about it.
I will release this as soon as I can,
