Hello.
Welcome to the last VOID_r update.
Yup, you heard me right. This is the last update. The End.
An explanation is at the end of this devlog, for now let me quickly go over the changelog.
The most important things in this update are:
Controller support!
// You can now fully play the game using a controller! //New animations.
“Normal” ending changes.
Reworked “Afraid This Time” mission.
Changelog:
Visuals:
New animations for lots of things.
More details.
Upgraded visuals for the mission screen.
More hints.
Updated easter eggs and added a new one.
Audio:
Removed firing sound
// In my opinion the sound was very annoying when playing for a long time, so I just removed it. //New enemy hit sound
Engine (v1.3):
Xinput Controller support.
Fixes for some minor things.
Reworked “Afraid This Time”.
// The mission in it’s previous form doesn’t fit the current lore, so it was reworked. //Removed leftovers from “A Lost Cause”.
Added support for imitated Anti-Aliasing (Default value=1).
// Not available through the in-game options because of how experimental it is, but it can be changed using the V_r.ini config file. //
Misc.
Fixed some small bugs.
Loading screen now shows some additional info (it might also take more time to load because of some changes).
Minor changes to different things to improve Controller support.
Changed credits.
Explanation.
What happened to episodes (ALC, MTH)?
Any signs of them have been removed from the game and they are cancelled.
The reason behind this, is that VOID_r’s engine is very badly written and its hard to implement anything right now, so I decided that it would take too long to release the episodes and cancelled them. Why the last update?
As I said in the previous point, VOID_r’s engine is bad for implementing new things, so I’m moving away from it. I don’t plan rewriting It’s engine and porting everything over, so this is the last update.
I consider VOID_r a finished game at this point and there is no reason to keep working on it in this state.
(Unless there is a gamebreaking bug, which I missed somehow, then I will update it)What’s next?
While I might’ve stopped working on VOID_r, I still have plans for a sequel.
More about that in the next point.
Before that though, I’m going to work on a completely new project (with @TheMatiaz0 ). I can’t say much right now, but it will be different from VOID_r gameplay-wise.VOID_r sequel?
VOID_r/2. That’s the current name for it. I can only say that it will include a lot of ideas from “A Lost Cause” and it will be much more story focused than it’s predecessor. That’s all I have to say for now. Please follow me on my Twitter account if you like my work, as I plan on posting stuff related to my other games, as well as not related things.
