What if the cast of #Grandia went to #Hogwarts? What houses would they be in?

Grandia is one of the best RPG games ever written and also one with a very underrated storyline, also.

What houses would the cast be in if they went to Hogwarts. I'll speak in order of appearance when you just play the game from start to finish.

Once again, the main traits of the houses:

  • Gryffindor - Courage and chivalry

  • Hufflepuff - Wisdom and fairness

  • Ravenclaw - Cleverness

  • Slytherin - Cunning and ambition

General Baal

image.png

Well, if he wouldn't end up in Slytherin, who would? The General abuses is power provided to him by his rank to seek out the disaster that spelled the end of the Utopian Angelou civilization and claim that power for his own, and not only are his ambitions to become the most powerful being, the motivation to seek out this power, he is even the only known mortal being known to have been able to control it, which makes that he is somebody who goes beyond where nobody dared to go before to make his ambitions come true. Ambitions worthy of Slytherin.

Herr Mullen

image.png

Although there are many misunderstandings between the heroes and Mullen at the first half of the game, eventually Mullen will get his chance to show his true qualities. Not only is he a very extremely skilled swordsman, but he's also an excellent leader, although a bit stubborn which did cause some misery, and that is why I wouldn't put him into Ravenclaw. Mullen shows his courage as he suspects his father, General Baal of fishy things, although he cannot prove them, and that's why he keeps obeying (or pretending to do so) until he has that proof. Although he obtained it when it was already too late, he did dare to face his father.

Leen

image.png

Leen was less easy to place than Mullen. She is a rather shy person who hides a horrible secret. Yet she is trying desperately to come to terms with it. The game she's playing remains a mystery for a long time, and once revealed she doesn't run away from her destiny even though she knows it means she has to give up her life. In this sense I still deem her a Gryffindor.

Sue

image.png

Sue is the first playable character to appear in the game's story (although the main protagonist Justin will follow soon). I decided to put her into Ravenclaw due to her quick thinking. Sometimes a bit reckless, as evidenced when she stowawayed the steamer, but overall she appears to be thinking ahead, and her conclusions quite often belie her young age.

Justin

image.png

I guess you all were expecting me to put our young protagonist in Gryffindor, but no, that's not the house fitting his persona best. Although Justin is courageous, at the times he needs to be, most of his heroics are merely acting without really being fully aware of the dangers he exposes himself to. What does plead for Hufflepuff though is that he is completely acting selflessly. Although it's his passion to become the best adventurer the world has ever seen, he most of all cares for people, and doesn't give too much of a damn that people are different from him. His presence left marks wherever he went and populations who hated each other before with passion came closer to each other to even blending in with each other simply due to Justin sowing the seeds of friendship, which is a natural talent he possessed, and a talent that Helga Hufflepuff praises most.

Lilly the Skull

image.png

Yes, I'll put her into Slytherin. Remember Slytherin does not mean you are a bad person. Although Lily does have a criminal record as a pirate, yet as a restaurant owner and most of all as Justin's mom, is plays things the fishy way. She knew all along what Justin was planning, but has always managed to hide it, and she very cunningly put a letter in Justin's pockets for the president of the adventurer's society (not knowing the president had passed away and was replaced by an idiot). She was pretty cunning, even though it was all for Justin's own good!

Nana, Saki & Mio

image.png

I don't think you expected me to put these three bitches in any other house. Courage they have none. Wisdom they have even less. Mio is the only one that could make me consider Ravenclaw, but she's too stuck up in her ambitions to go for any other house than Slytherin, and the other two well, ambition they have. Now they are too lazy to pursue their ambitions by proving themselves. They rather resort to sneaky ways to get what they want. Mio planning to make Leen hiccup oncontrollably in order to make sure Mullen would never fall in love with her, really shows how low they are willing to go. Plotting, cunning, loads of ambition, they have, and that is what Salazar Slytherin likes, although I have the impression that even he will look down onto these three.

Liete of Alent

image.png

I am still not fully sure, but I cannot really deem her suitable for the other houses. Liete does have a lot of knowledge, but knowledge alone does not make one intelligent. She does however also understand a lot of things that are the result of the things she knows, and that pleads for Ravenclaw.

Feena

image.png

Feena is a very experienced adventurer, who shows the bright and dark sides of Gryffindor house. At the beginning of the game she really looks down on Justin, and can't stress enough how professional she is. When violently forced into marriage with the idiot (I refuse to call Pakon "president") of the adventurer's society she gets her wake-up call, but has the courage to accept it. She does know the difference between courage and stupidity pretty well, and often needs to get Justin on track. However when the story line reveals the secret sealed inside her own body, a secret she was never aware of herself, she has trouble accepting it (but then again, we all would), but has the courage to face her destiny as a result, and the arrogance she shows at the start, and the courage she shows at the end, make her all a true Gryffindor in the end.

Rem

image.png

Rem is a harder one. He is the first humanoid Justin will meet on his travels. Although he acts violent at first, out of fear, and also due to a Babylonian language barrier, he quickly accepts Justin as a friend and quickly accepts that now all humans are like the Garlyle Forces (who hunted him down). Since his role in the story is small, it was hard to get a full image of him, but see most of all the traits Helga Hufflepuff would go for.

Gadwin

image.png

Gadwin was a hard one. Gryffindor seems obvious, but actually I am not fully sure here. Gadwin shows himself a bit of an autist focusing on the way of the warrior and takes our protagonist Justin under his wing. Yet, bravery is the trait he seems to value most, and that could make the Sorting Hat go for Gryffindor.

Dr. Alma

image.png

With this as the only picture I could find, I couldn't really put a shield in, but I chose Hufflepuff. Dr. Alma is merely a physician who does what is expected of a physician. Nursing people to the best of her abilities. Her devotion to her profession is admirable, and she takes her duties very seriously.

Guido of Zil Padon

image.png

Now I must say this was a close call with Hufflepuff, but I decided in the end to go for Ravenclaw. Guido is the elder of the Mogay people, and a very wise leader, and he couldn't care less about the differences between what people look like and he doesn't let cultural differences cloud his judgment. But there's more than wisdom. He's also very smart and always plans ahead. Would you first take him for a money hungry Ferrengi, when it's revealed why he wanted all that money you can see how cleverly he was actually planning ahead.

Rapp of Cafu

image.png

Rapp is a rude fellow, but one who means well, and with the courage to take on tough enemies. Sometimes a bit overconfident though.

Milda of Laine

image.png

Now in my manual Milda was described as "Milda would rather fight with a body than her brain". Well when we speak of the way she acts in combat it's indeed all muscle, and little thinking, and not to mention she's totally uncapable to do magic. Yet when not in combat it becomes clear that Milda is both clever and wise. She seems to have good social skills and is very mature, especially given she's only 19 years old, yet she does act a bit like the party's mentor for the short time she's a member of the group. She and her husband, Darlin, are actually one of the most important characters Justin meets during he journey, as they are the ones who eventually bring him to Alent, the destination the journey began about. So for the plotline her intelligence is actually the most keypart we get to see of her and what has the most consequences to the story. And Rowena Ravenclaw never said something about combat style, right?
